Munnerlyn will be the backup if here at all. The solution is a free agent corner who can play man on the outside and bring Jackson into the slot. Replace Adams with a free agent  if Gaulden or Searcy can't do the job and sign Reid and bring in a legitimate secondary coach and suddenly the secondary is 10 fifteen or higher.

Reid was a bit too aggressive, reminded me a bit of Mike Mitchell, but the real liability was the lack of pressure up front and Adams/Munnerlyn. Donte got burnt a couple of times but you can't have a geriatric safety covering for him over the top. Keep Reid, Donte, and Bradberry, the rest of the secondary can go.

The one game I felt they did well was va New Orleans, shutting down Brees.  Here is hoping for draft and FA help which is what we need.

That's true. 

I think Reid is a more disciplined tackler than Mitchell, but not perfect. I believe both he and Donte could improve if just given better coaching. Bradberry simply needs consistency. I think it basically all comes down to coaching and whether or not they're disciplined in their fundamentals. The talent is there.

I'm curious to know where the defensive line is ranked.

Definitely seemed like there were times we had trouble getting pressure with our front four, but at the same time if teams are getting the ball out quick that is more on the secondary and/or scheme.

We definitely could use some upgrades at both but they probably view the line as having priority.  If Peppers is gone and with Addison getting older, not to mention the DTs getting older, you could see the line regressing more.  On the other had, in the secondary Jackson should be better, Bradberry is still young, also Cockrell could be back and could definitely help.

We definitely have plenty of needs.  You could easily make an argument for DE, DT, CB, and safety.

What's funny is if you looked at first and second down, our team was probably top 5 in the league. Too bad we were literally the worst 3rd down defense I've ever seen (*and redzone*). I'd like to see the amount of 3rd and 7+ that we gave up. It must be a record.

You can hide holes in your secondary with a strong d-line and a DC who knows what he’s doing ... we didn’t have either one
