CmC was a bargain at number 8.

The 2018 NFL yards from scrimmage leaders and their draft positions:

1. Saquon Barkley. 1st round. 2nd overall

2. Ezekiel Elliot. 1st round. 4th overall

3. Christian McCaffery. 1st round. 8th overall

4. Todd Gurley. 1st round. 10th overall

5. Julio Jones. 1st round. 6th overall

Each of these guys is clearly the best offensive player on their respective team.

Notice a pattern in their draft positions?

The idea that a running back is not worth a first round pick is rooted in the traditional mold of a three down, lined up in the backfield, up the gut rusher. CMC is a fantastic rusher and receiver in a single package. You wouldn't think twice about the value of spending the 8th pick on a potentially elite wr. McCaffrey is that and so much more. He may not be a true bargain since you hope for a pro bowl talent when you draft in the top 10. But he's exceeded all expectations and quieted everyone who second guessed the pick at the time.

I don’t really think any top 10 pick can ever be considered a ‘bargain.’

Depends on the position.

I would consider Patrick Mahomes a bargain or a Joey Bosa.

Speaking of CMC, if CJ had got those same carries how much different would the numbers be?

There are still people trying to argue that he wasn't worth that pick, or that he's not that valuable to the team, or that he's actually bad for the offense.

It's basically like wearing a badge that says either "I have an agenda" or "I'm not terribly bright".

    • Aggressive runner, hits the hole fast, and runs angry.  Just a few yards shy of the single game record for the team.  Absolutely phenomenal performance.  If the gameplan hadn't become weirdly pass heavy for the 3rd and first half of the 4th quarters he might have been flirting with 300.
    • I felt that way before the season started, but I'm sorry, he's already proven he isn't that guy, I don't need to learn anything more about him. He threw the ball 30 times today and could only throw for 198 yards, which was his 2nd best yardage game this year, he's just not the guy. Which means this season has already moved onto the 2nd most important thing going into this season after evaluating Bryce, and that's developing our best young players. You don't do that by only throwing 8 of your 30 passes to your best player who is still only a rookie.  Pepper him with targets and help develop him so he's ready to take a huge leap next year when we get a real HC and QB to get him the ball.
    • Every win comes from a non-sustainable source.  As CRA mentioned, Penix absolutely imploding against ATL, and then today, defense finally clicked and looked the best they’ve looked in a long time (and still have up 24 points lol) and Rico ran for 200+ yards.  We’re not going to get that every week, especially against good teams, which neither Miami or ATL are.  Both MIA and ATL are bad teams and Bryce still couldn’t get it together.  The defense (and team) had to overcome 14 points because of his turnovers again.  That was not even an average QB performance.  We are winning in spite of him.
