Sam Mills III tasked with game management duties

I have to wonder...what does Sam MIlls 3 have to qualify him for anything? A man of an ancestor that was an icon and has a statue. Yall were so mad Bersin was kept on because well, he was only clutch when his number was rarely called, but otherwise here because someone with money and power wanted him here.  People want to focus on the idea that this man is needed to control RR...but really, what is he doing to benefit anyone other than his name???

Now this guy gifted with a team job years ago because someone in his family was a great player here. That is exactly the kind of  good ol boy system and logic many used to hate about JR, and used as jokes about Bersin. BUT....

He's spent many years around the team and working for the team.  4 years as a defensive quality coach, 7 years as the assistant DL coach, and now he's the DL coach.  Seems to me that he's put in the time and Rivera feels comfortable with him in that role, as well as the game management job.

exactly. He was cast into roles because of his name. Go back and tell me again what experience in football he had when he got his first job here~

We all bitched about it being a problem. They address the problem and you guys bitch about their solution. Ron Rivera is a really good coach with some glaring deficiencies. They've addressed one of the big ones now. Who did you guys want in his place? What candidates for Game Clock Watcher are hot right now that we've ignored? Jesus.

PLAYING AND PERSONAL
Mills followed in his father's footsteps by playing at Montclair (N.J.) State, where the elder Mills was an NCAA Division II All-America at linebacker. He started 20 games in two seasons at defensive back for the Red Hawks and totaled 71 tackles, two interceptions, 14 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Mills has been a member of the coaching staff for the East-West Shrine Game four times.

HISTORY
Defensive back: Monclair State 1997-1999. Pro coach: Joined Panthers in 2005.

So he grew up in the organization, played college football, then joined the team as a coach in 2005.  I can't say how "good" a coach he is, but looking at his profile, you can see where he has experience.  I just don't buy the nepotism angle, especially under Tepper.  Sure, he's learned a lot on the job, but he still has learned something.  If he was complete garbage, then why would Rivera trust him when Rivera is coaching for his job?

Also, keep in mind that Washington is going to be spending more time with the front seven, including DL.    Take that for what it's worth, I guess.

Came to post “in b4 ‘Wow Ron yet again promoting his buddies within instead of hiring an outside top-notch award winning game managing specialist extraordinaire’”, but I see I was too late...

Also:

-Huddle complains that Ron is bad at game managing

-Ron enlists the help of an assistant to help with game managing

-Huddle complains about Ron enlisting someone to help him with this deficiency

The only relevant end product is that our game managing should improve. Who cares if it’s an assistant who is helping with it? You’d think people in here are paying his salary.

Huddle gonna Huddle.

a number of teams have positions like this. letting one guy pour all his concentration into on-the-spot replay analysis and clock management is a wide allocation of resources and frankly should've been done years ago.

I agree with you but there is still the question of what Ron will be freed up to do...the DCordinators job, who will be doing the DLine coaches job...

This should have been done years ago but doing it now when there is so much dysfunction is just comical and another target on a guy many fans wanted to see gone.

Ron Rivera, the new face of the franchise. Just a figure head, literally does nothing....

Im not understanding this new owners mindset one bit.  Im hoping its because he is gathering knowledge of ownership and doesn't want to make emotional decisions like some owners tend to do. I would then be ok with that.
