Paying over 10 million for ANY backup QB with as little cap as we have, and as many holes as we have to fill........

Whoever trades for him will have to redo his deal, or no one will be willing to trade.  Someone could extend him 2 years

btw inb4 Keenum to Jacksonville

I think this is ultimately where Foles ends up. Everyone talks about them not having much cap space, but they can free up $16.5M at the drop of a hat by releasing (or potentially trading) Blake Bortles. Trading Bortles would likely be quite the chore, so I'd bank on the former.

If he’s cut then for the right salary yes. Contract is wayyyyyy too big to trade for. Wouldn’t even take Keenum and a 4th round pick for a 7th.

Hell, I would. The Broncos would still have to eat his $3M in bonus this year and we'd take on his non-guaranteed $18.5M salary. Sweet! Just cut him and you've basically straight up traded a 7th for a 4th.  Which is exactly why the Broncos would never agree to any such trade. They're gonna eat that $3M no matter what. Cut him or trade him and they eat the $3M. If they can't find any takers for a trade he'll be released.

    • D Carr must have really disliked the saints to wait and do this announcement after the draft has passed if he made this call a few weeks before the draft sure they would have approached it and the offseason differently.  oh well will be interesting to see how their qbs perform.  would love to see them roll with Thill and just make the whole offense towards his skillset.  Although sadly would be only playing in about half the games with how often he gets injured.
    • I have to say it's quite fascinating seeing you pivot from months and months of wailing and agonizing about threads derailing into Bryce Young slingfests only for you to turn around and do the same thing. And just for the record. Nobody in life ever attained wisdom and clarity from mistakes by having people blindly fawn over them and tell them they are above reproach and incapable of making mistakes. Our front office is just as human as we are. And based on the fact that front offices across the league outside of a handful of teams change on a fairly regular basis it's safe to say they are certainly no more infallible than the average Joe even though they possess significantly more knowledge usually. If you want a utopia where all you do is shine shoes for anyone associated with the Panthers you go right on ahead and create yourself a new community sir. More power to you.
    • I trust Morgan when it comes to LBs so I think Wallace will do well.
