Was 19/28, 393 yds with 3 completions over 50 yards in a come-from-behind victory.

Don't know about you guys, but I watched 3 AAF games this weekend and they are fun to watch. No kickoffs, post-score possessions start at the 25, no PAT (2-point conversions are required), shorter play clock...

Good, hope Gilbert gets some good experience and some good looks from his chance to play. And yeah, I'm liking the games that I've watched. Not a bad lil spring league.

Go Birmingham!

I think having the minor league is a great thing. Jake and Kurt Warner both came through NFL Europe/World League and Arena football— there are plenty out there that never get the right chance to learn and succeed that this gives a chance for.

I've enjoyed watching the AAF especially with the good pace of the games. The idea of a ref in a booth with video giving instant feedback to the officials on field is such a good idea watch the NFL start doing it.

I've pulled for Orlando from the start if only that I love Spurrier but Gilbert is by far the best QB in the league. What a long ball! Too, Orlando is the only team with good WR's. Most of the AAF's WR's are butterfingered. They aren't catching the ball even when their QB does get it to them.

I'm impressed. There's quite a few good things going for the AAF not the least is the partnership with the NFL and its network.

Charles Johnson (the WR) has 193 on 7 receptions playing for the same team.

Too bad he got hurt before he could prove whether he would have been a good Ginn replacement or not.

I love the league so far. I hope it sticks. If they put a team in Raleigh,  I would go. Out of the QBs, I think Luis Perez and Gilbert will be in the NFL next year.

I think it would be awesome if they can get it to the point where each team has their own minor league like the other sports, so UDFAs/practice squad type guys could play down there and come up if they’re ready. I’d definitely watch it consistently if the Panthers had their own minor league team where we could see players work their way up to the NFL and have it be on our team. As it is right now I’ve had it on at times when there’s nothing on tv but haven’t been watching every game or full games yet.

I think the AAF and NFL could mutually benefit each other. I'd like to see it evolve to where NFL teams can place their practice squad players on loan to the AAF and recall them for training camp. Great chance to let these guys get some live game action in and develop a bit.

Did you say team in Raleigh? Now that would be fun. How much money players getting?

All contracts are 3 years 250K (a little over 80 k/yr). You can opt out if an NFL team wants you plus there's other appearance money and bonuses that can boost the pay especially for "name" players.

I've noticed quite a few of the players who were drafted by the NFL were ultimately released due to a camp injury during their rookie year. The AAF gives them an opportunity to show what they've got now that they're healthy.

I would think an AAF player on an NFL team's radar will have a better shot at making a team than a 6th round draft choice from a small school.
