Landon Collins Might Out in NY, Who Knows

As others have already pointed out, we already have our strong safety in Reid. If we had both Reid and Collins we'd have a lit of money tied up in the safety position with somebody forced to play out of position. It just wouldn't make any sense. As soon as we re-signed Reid the Collins ship sailed for us. It's HIGHLY likely we would've never been in play anyway. We're not spending Landon Collins money at safety.

My wife is going to blame me because she is a Giants fan and after getting her a Saquon jersey she asked me if I ever wore a Giants jersey who I would get I replied Landon Collins. T_T

Either way, Carolina already signed Reid for a better price. All that we need to do now is draft Jaquan Johnson out of Miami in the 3rd and we finally wont have a patchwork secondary!!

I'm going to get laughed at for this, but I'd take Tre Boston back. He's improved quite a bit since he left and is a good coverage safety who can tackle, along with only being 27-28 at season start.

He's going to come cheaper than a lot of the other guys mentioned so far and that will mean something when it comes to putting money into other places of need. He'd probably work in the $2 mill/year range and that's a lot more affordable than top end players. (He worked on a $1.5 million deal with the Cards last season and was a big part of their defense.)

I don't like Boston much but he is better than what we have currently. I would prefer to get a guy better than that but I am not completely opposed to him as an option if it comes at a reasonable price.

Outside of one of the bigger name FA guys, I am thinking we're going to hope to develop Kai Nacua or Quin Blanding into at least a serviceable role and hand the starting reigns to Gaulden.

I'm not sure how I feel about that, but meh.

Gaulden as starter is a complete nightmare. Hopefully the front office is more intelligent than that.

This. Boston isn't great. He's prone to mistakes, but he's a rangy safety who can make plays on the ball. He'd pair well with Reid. I'd prefer someone better too but he'd absolutely be an upgrade for us.
