Brian Burns

So there was a drive by poster here back around December who claimed he had a source our scouts and staff LOVED Brian Burns and he was among the top player they liked in this draft.  (This is before reports Rivera wanted to move to a hybrid 3-4)  and rhe dude took some heat on here

I wish the guy was still around.

Burns was known as a twig, 235 soaking wet couldnt cut it etc etc etc.

Burns measured in at 250 today

Oh also we recently just hired Everett Brown as a......LB coach.

I was really down on Polite and Burns coming into this but I believe this opens things up quite a bit. With these weights they could end up ahead of Ferrell and/or Sweat. It could also put them in play for us especially if there's anything to this 3-4. I may be a little optimistic considering how much water weight you can add in a short time. Lets see if they look like pumpkins in drills tomorrow.

That'd be awesome because give me Ferrell or Sweat all day everyday. I'm not necessarily opposed to Burns and/or Polite, but yeah, I'd much prefer Ferrell or Sweat. Those are my top two potentially realistic hopefuls and I haven't quite decided who I prefer over the other. Wilkins is my #3.

Measurable's don't mean that much IMO. The heart (desire to play the game), along with natural talent and football smarts means more. What makes Luke great is not just his skills, but his smarts and overall desire. He's football 24-7. That leads to production and making the players around you better.

Exactly my favorites too, even Wilkins. Torn between Sweat and Ferrell as well. This could end up playing out nicely. Bet Burns shot up Green Bays board if that weight sticks. Hope the QB's kill it as well.

Burns is not a finished product by any means and the Panthers need to do a lot of homework on his desire to be great but if he has the work ethic he could be an amazing pass rusher.  He has a lot of tools to work with but definitely would need to get stronger and add teachable skills but he is really talented now.

I think overall Polite is better right now but Burns upside is a little higher.  It’s close though.  Love Polite.

Everyone just assumes Nick Bosa is amazing...both he and his brother have been good...but hurt a lot.  Are either of the dudes dominant?  Dunno.

Yeah, won't shock me a bit if some other pass rusher or multiple other pass rushers end up being better.

    • I presented that scenario because this is a home game and we seemed to have improved in some capacity in that area as of recently. The problem with the possibility of sweeping the Bucs is this team has had a habit of quickly falling victim to momentum shifts. The Bucs are coming off a bitter loss the same as the Panthers but the Bucs have a much better proven track record this time of year and they have performed when the pressure is on unlike our Panthers. We have a shot against the Seahawks here in BOA but that is a matchup that could quickly get out of hand because they are a well coached team and that goes back to the momentum shifts I mentioned. I just don't see this team beating the Bucs in their stadium to close the season. Tall order to say the least.
    • I’d give it another year for Sanders and Evans, I don’t much care what you do with Tremble’s spot. Let him have another year or maybe replace him. Haven’t looked at his contract so that may be the determining factor.
    • Following the crazy up down pattern we finish 9-8 with an improbable sweep of TB, and lay an egg in the home playoff game.  I don’t know if I can sign on to sweeping TB but I suppose it’s possible, they aren’t really that good this year.    ps I can buy beating TB Sunday and losing to Seattle.  Then it just gets to can you fluke one game. Any given Sunday. So we’ll see.
