Oline upgrades and pass rush help so far..

With the best trench draft in years coming.. My money is on adding more players to both lines..

I agree with this plan and thought it was needed before the offseason started.. I hope Hurney is able to finish it out without getting side track by some skill position player ..  I like the idea of a hybrid system and I hope they add some young pieces in the draft to make that happen..

What do you guys think so far with this objection in mind??

duh I said that was the case before the season ending. You win and lose in the trenches and our lines were in major needs of upgrades

I am really pumped about the moves so far. They could always go south on us, like most of last year's free agents did but on paper this is looking like a really great offseason of filling needs at reasonable prices. Even the Reid signing at a price people initially bitched about looks to be better than average once the market for safeties opened up. 

Lets keep the momentum up, though. If we can get a solid veteran at FS and maybe extend someone like Shaq to save some coin, this could be a damn good free agency.

Hurney is going BPA.

all the mocks are crazy. Some have all the OT gone before us and the best pass rushers and leaving corners, safeties or 2nd tier, 2nd round pass rushers we would over draft.

some mocks have the opposite, but run on defensive,... several OT options, safeties etc.

bottom line is few know what’s going to be there at 16 that is worth the best choice so he’s plugging the holes.

BPA,.. could be a great corner or Safety, could be OT, DE, 3/4 OLB or 4-3 OLB—

get the best player,..

That is what I love so much about the way we are making these signings. Filling needs and leaving us flexible enough to draft straight BPA. No panicked drafting of multiple players at the same position ala 2016 Draft.

If we are going to go 3-4, I actually don’t mind how we are shaping up at OLB. But  we desperately need some beef on the line. I assume the starting 3 would be butler, Poe, Short. Then who? We literally don’t have anyone else. 

We need to at least throw vet min at a couple of these aging guys. Sylvester Williams? Muhammad Wilkerson? A warm body?

I'll be stoked if our first round pick is LT or DE, second round pick is DE, FS, DT, or LT, any pick past then I'll take CB to that list. 

Would also like to add a G in the 4th or so

I have preached for years and still firmly believe that games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. Glad to see us working to make that a priority.

That's my problem with this thinking.. Maybe in other drafts this is true.. But this year your supposedly 2nd teir Dlinemen would be 1st teir in a weaker draft.. 

Example  

Celine Ferrell last year and most of this year is a top 5 pick until other top 5 picks enter the draft.. This is the year you can get a top teir Dlinemen in the top 20 when in most years they would be gone in the top 10.. Because the draft is so unusually deep.. We should be able to get a day one starter on the In the trenches no matter what.

I would go DE, OG,  than secondary/Dline next 2 picks.  Then development OT and than look at the skill position..

This is a great DL class, not just Edge, but DT as well. 

Agree I think we can come away with both.. I just think "best case scenario" is starter edge rusher and development Dtackle .. Not the other way around..
