Unless they restructure the current contract as part of the extension, this is about 2020 and beyond. This extension doesn't impact this year's cap.

The Giants will be better without OBJ. Gettlemen was able to sign and trade him, like he should've done with Collins. Based on the players they got, it looks like it was well worth the sign and trade.

Sign and trades sound nice, but you end up carrying a lot of dead cap space. The Giants carried almost $37M in dead cap space last year because of the OBJ and Vernon trades. They had nearly $60M in cap space tied up in two guys who were no longer on the roster and Eli Manning. It's not a coincidence they were terrible. It was virtually guaranteed that they were going to be terrible.

Jordan's good.   It's possible they can keep Thomas too if they think this is Drew's last year.  Falcons have too many to re-sign though.  Matty's cap hit is gonna be there for a while.
