Panthers Claim Three Off Waivers

McCloud is a PR, Zylstra has a lot of PR experience in the CFL and Jamerson was a KR in college with 4.4 speed

Wondering if that Godwin muff cost him his shot. Definitely a theme with these 3 and I admit I quite like that we are seriously trying to address the returner positions.

I am amazed how far Polite has fallen.  First round lock.  3rd round.  Released before his first game.  Not claimed off waivers.

He’s a head case but the GM who drafted him was fired right after the draft. It’s still very bizarre though.

Zylstra was the Vikings version of Bersin, but quite a bit better.  He's been a bubble WR for them; this year he didn't make it.  He's a return man too.  So yes, he's better than Godwin at this point.  I saw he got cut and thought he would fit nicely here, but since the WR position is pretty stacked, I didn't really think twice about it.  He's being brought in as our PR and depth.

Clear theme for each guy the Panthers have claimed off waivers so far today is return ability. Means that even after all of the guys who took reps during camp, they’re still very much trying to find their go-to person at that position.

Panthers newest DB Natrell Jamerson, who can play safety and slot corner, returned a kickoff 98 yards for a score while in college.

Panthers have claimed WR Brandon Zylstra on waivers, per @AdamSchefter. Zylstra has experience in the CFL (he led the league in receiving yardage in 2017) and returned 4 punts and a kickoff last season for the Vikings.

Wonder if we didn't want to risk not having a shot at any of these guys, so we just claimed all 3, basically try them out as the returner, and cut the guys who don't win the job?

EDIT: Nevermind.  Rodrigue's tweets make it sound like they were brought in for more.

Yup, one of the two WRs will get cut eventually...the loser of the PR battle.  I'm pulling for Zylasta.  McCloud is marginal at best.  He was a JAG when at Clemson, but was hyped early on.  He never lived up to the hype.
