I don't think cam particularly trusted him and maybe just didn't like him. Heard several people talk about him just being an odd guy. Never really fit in anywhere. I don't think cam really much even looked his way when CJ was on the field, esp. after that drop. That was big.

That's why I didn't think it was a big deal when we cut him. Didn't use him. Also the offense was way too limited when he was on. They wanted hybrid players that didn't limit what they were going to do on the field and took guesswork from the other D.

Truth is, CJ should never have been brought in, but he was just in case what they wanted to do schematically didn't work and they needed to go a more traditional route. What they wanted to do was working and it made CJ unnecessary.

I pretty much agree with all of this. After the Atlanta game CJ lost my trust admittedly and I didn't lose any sleep over cutting him.

That said, it didn't hurt bringing him in. We didn't know how CMC would respond as a power runner (He responded greatly, which also helped diminish CJ's workload) and CJ can be a boon on offense, look at how he helped the Rams. We took a flyer on him and hopped his hands wouldn't be...ass. But they were.

Nothing wrong with trying something and it failing.

I felt like he had one of the more impressive offensive rookie performances in recent memory. Seems like such a balanced back, shifty and has a surprising amount of power.

Would love to see both he and CMC on the field together some.

Same dude. Plus, i like the idea of having a dude who can run away from defenses as your primary backup RB. It makes him a threat

    • Not only for Andersen but the whole team, having not beat the Habs this season before tonite.  Shows them that they aren't jinxed.
    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
