Cam derangement syndrome is a real thing

Rando at my bar was watching with me in the fourth quarter. Kyle Allen pulls a matrix move to escape the crashing end. We all pound the bar. Dude goes, without a trace of irony,

"I'm just saying, Cam Newton couldn't have done that"

Cam Newton made a fuging career out of doing that. Healthy Cam Newton ducks out of hits like that in his sleep and doesn't lose three fumbles because he is a tank with A-grade pocket awareness. He is an elite quarterback.

There is a positive correlation between people who say catastrophically stupid things like "cam newton couldn't have done that" and people who subjectively despise him for things like wearing a towel and dancing.

Cam Newton makes people deranged and it's going to be an unbelievable source of catharsis for me when he returns to take over the reins from Kyle Allen around thanksgivingish and leads this team to the playoffs

I feel like argue with these idiots on a daily basis. But to add to the derangement it does go both ways. Die hard fan boys of Newton will also defend him even when his play is not up to par.

I just don't think the % of Panthers fans with any football knowledge, unbiased outlooks, no racism, or hate of Cams flashiness is very high. I despise the Majority of our fan base. They all whine and moan, it's always doom and gloom, we never have a chance.  And of course only spew negativity unless we're 15-1 and then they look even more stupid bc we knew the idiots before the success.

There is no win with these people. I hate it for our team.

In addition and just for example.

I had a "friend" on Facebook legit make a post asking if Holyfield was still on the roster bc McCaffrey is obviously not the back who can get us one yard when it's needed and that he should be the guys bc CMC is to small to be an every down back.  And this was after his short yardage rushing TD to put us ahead.

Don't mind the 30 some games of basically 100/100 rec/rushing yardage. The stupid is strong in the Carolinas when it comes to the football.

Had something very similar happen this to me this morning. People truly have no idea how good Cam has been in the past. The hate is real.

Forget Cam and the 8-game losing streak; RR needs to be talking to these trainers and doctors and if he is hurt, you don't play him--I do not care what Cam says or thinks.  RR knew Cam's shoulder was bad last year and still played him--- and brought in Heinicke to throw hail Mary passes.

In the interview, Cam suggests that it was a secret he was keeping, but they knew.  This is RR living for the now to save his job.

I am not sure that Cam as a beat up QB is accurate enough to eliminate running from his game.  Sorry,  but I knew this day would come, and every hit he took over the past 8 or 9 years is problematic.

Yeah cam could get away from that with ease. But he would have overthrown or ran short of the 1st.

Obviously a healthy Cam could do that. I cant speak for the context of what this dude meant. But I dont think Cam could do that week 1. An injured Cam would have had a bit of trouble. I think that's a fair statement.

yeah it's absolutely fair! like i think it's a very reasonable take that in fact cam newton with an injury to the lisfranc complex that kept him from being able to complete a simple walk around the perimeter of the field two weeks ago would've had trouble out there today. totally agree with this!

If Cam can resemble 2015 Cam then awesome.  Like to give him time to get right

If cam could resemble 2015 he would be the most unstoppable player ever. But the truth is you dont see that every year much less every game in this league. Things change and competition evolves so you got to change with it. Its ignorant to hold cam to the standard of that one season simply because teams evolved to stop us and the panthers simply didnt do anything to stay ahead of the pack while they were there which ultimately hurt Cam and he got significantly hurt physically. But Cam has tried to lead the team to success even despite all that the best he could since then which he should be appreciated for.

Johnny Unitas was good "in the past."  The Colts still let him go at some point. There is an argument to made on both sides.  Cam (in the past) was in his twenties; the Cam we are seeing now is the Cam in his thirties paying for the style of Cam in his twenties.

Allen is connecting on 70% of his passes.  Cam's career accuracy is not that good--he is below 60% for his career.  We loved the Cam who could take the team on his back and run for a first down, but he struggled to drive the team down the field with his arm.  He focused on certain WRs/TEs and left others open. He has not improved his accuracy and become a pocket passer as everyone said he would become as he matured.  Frankly, I appreciate the Cam of the past, but I am not confident we get better with the Cam of the future.
