I was barking up that tree all camp long.  However, it was made out to be that I was implying Jackson couldn't handle the outside.  It was never about what Jackson couldn't do, it was about fit and Jackson is a natural fit at nickle and Cockrell being able to handle his business on the outside.  It just makes sense.

I’m not really sure that Jackson is a natural nickel. Yes he doesn’t have ideal size for the outside but his speed is more straight line than it is change of direction and the change of direction quickness is one of the more important attributes of playing slot. Also you need to be a willing run defender which for him seems to be about 50/50.

The only issues I saw was with the S.  Reid may have recovered a fumble and knocked down an hail mary, but he really has not been an impact player.

I'm going to list off two impact plays the player made and then say they aren't an impact player.

I don't think it works that way.

Say what?

It depends on how you classify a player who made a couple of big plays but blew a bunch of other ones. Outside of those two highlights, Reid was generally a liability.

I bring up Charles Godfrey as a comparison because he had a lot of games like that.

I'm a simple man. Player who made two impact plays was an impact player.

I thought missing Djack would side the odds for Houston, but not when his replacement balls OUT!!

He played GREAT this week and great last week as the nickle. He held up great (minus one play) against ANY houston WR.

Lastly Hes also the best safety replacement too, he wears lots of hats.

    • Who were we going to trade up with? The Dolphins wanted Proctor, the Rams were vehement on taking Ty Simpson, the Ravens wanted Ioane, and the Bucs werent trading with us except for maybe a kings ransom. Even if we wanted to move, we had no partner. Moot point.
    • Devin Lloyd is a stud lb but who is next to him? Prince and Nic should improve. Lee was super value but i am not counting this fourth round chicken yet. I would expect some improvement; hope to eat my words w/ a top ten D.
    • I mean I agree about diminished Cam probably still being viable. Even though it gave a preview of how teams would defend the pass against a limited QB. There was an issue with the upcoming contract he was due to get and his expectations vs the new reality of his physical status - that people tend to  overlook when looking back on it  It had an effect on things I believe   But I do have to ask… what about Tepper’s second major move? fuging clueless   I mean I would take even an injured  Cam over Bryce all day long.
