Yeah but it would also protect them from others taking advantage of them and their young age. It kinda opens Pandora's Box because now 18 year old kids need agents to make sure they are not losing out all the while going to school and playing football.

Potentially so, yes. I am not sure unions are a clean answer to that, although they may end up being. That would complicate things a bit on a national scale. I think the signing of agents would still be prohibited.

This could be a major problem for non-revenue male and female programs. Boosters paying the athletes in football and basketball directly rather than donating to the athletic program will likely lead to a shortfall in money and resources for non-revenue sports and quite a few of them just being shut down.

Something needs to change for sure, but I’m not sure this is the way to do it. Many students opportunity for higher education is based on their participation in these non-revenue sports and this could take a lot of those opportunities away.

Its also going to drastically cut down on the amount of state of the art facilities popping up on every campus but that’s probably a good thing because that had gotten way out of hand. Little ridiculous that most college teams had better facilities than the majority of professional teams.

Valid.

This is just one of those things that could go wrong in about a hundred different directions.

Also, to be fair, pro sports teams don't tend to have wealthy boosters who are willing to donate money to build them nice facilities with their name on them.

Luckily for the Panthers we kinda do, though I'd grant that he has a bit of a vested interest.

Okay, let’s apply your own standard to what you assert. Can you provide any documented verifiable evidence of Duke cheating on the scale you describe? Keep in mind UNC has been caught putting athletes in bs classes to keep them eligible, so it’s institutional integrity has VERIFIABLY been compromised.

Yawn. The AFAM garbage brought up again. You obviously have forgotten that UNC was exonerated by the NCAA after a seven year investigation and received no penalties because they didn’t break any rules. You can choose to accept that, or you can cry about it and wag your widdle finger at the NCAA. I couldn’t care less because facts and justice prevailed.

Your bogus claim that UNC’s academic integrity has been compromised reeks of being a duke or NCST fan because according to ALL rankings of best colleges for student -athletes, UNC is at or near the top of the list. https://www.ncsasports.org/best-colleges/best-division-1-colleges

I am not disagreeing with you that college athletes should be fairly compensated and I do think they are exploited by basically every one involved with college sports from colleges to TV networks; I just don’t think “paying the players” is going to solve all the problems. The NCAA is a corrupt, greedy entity that rivals only FIFA and the IOC.

You really need a agent if you are going to market rights or you will see the governor look like a ass when mom and dad sign kiddos rights away for life to a shady company with 10 lawyers. That's what happened in the record business until YouTube happened. Or Nike says it won't endorse anyone unless they play for the Duck's.

yo the heels are my team too, and if they weren't cheating they wouldn't be in the top 10.  that's the reality.  the reality is also it shouldn't be cheating anymore because everyone is doing it

This is ignorant. Leave your fan card at the door.

Yeah, no one up there is clean. To think otherwise is really dumb, TBH. It isn't like this kind of stuff isn't pretty widely known. The NCAA intentionally looks the other way because they know the level of Pandora's Box THAT would open. Do you think they want to see their cash cows brought to their knees? What would that do for them?

Fact 1: UNC was cleared by the NCAA and governing bodies. Period.

And absolutely nobody was doing anything shady right? C’mon dude. Don’t act like your school is spotless and everybody else is cheating when you’ve got that in your past and you can’t point to anything remotely comparable at Duke. If that isn’t the definition of blind homerism I don’t know what is.

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
