Have the Panthers changed their injury reporting policies?

In the space of 2-weeks the list has gone from 6-players to 14-players....

....coincidence?

Or, given the kerfuffle with Cam, are the Panthers now being more stringent about toeing the NFL line on injury reporting requirements?

Going forward, what will the requirement be for allowing players to suit up and get onto the field?  Is 100% the minimum?  Or will players be allowed to go at something less than 100% if they so choose?

What say ye?

short's shoulder is the kind of thing you see if will respond to rest. things in medicine get better in 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 months. With kk, that's absolutely an injury where you see if it gets better in two weeks, then you just go ahead and shut it down. If you can't punch or push as a lineman, you're kinda useless. and with something of that extent, you don't just need surgery but the rehab and the strength training. that just takes time.

hogan's is in a similar situation, but he's a receiver so it's feasible he could be good to go in two months after surgery.

hamstring is a huge muscle. it takes a long time to get better and effects both the knee and hip. nothing out of the ordinary for irvin

Jackson is basically a sprinter playing DB. He's going to pull his groin (and hamstrings) a lot. It's just how he's built, and was actually a worry of mine. I hope they put him on a serious stretching routine, but track athletes like that are actually pretty good about warming up and stretching. seriously, if you ever get the chance to do a track warmup with someone who knows what they're doing, that'll wear you out before you even get running.

Samuel a similar thing, but he's just got a rest day.

burns hurt his wrist blocking a punt. there's not much you can do about that. i was kinda worried he didn't come back in. There are small bones in the wrist you can break that force teams to shut you down immediately. has he practiced this week?

big dudes still have small ankles, and that'll do dmg to guys like trai turner.

people love to bitch about "the training staff" and they really dont know what they're talking about. like with cam, he's got a midfoot break. it's a bone. it has poor blood supply. how would that have been avoided? how could that be rehabbed faster? do you really think you're smarter than the best ortho surgeons in the world?

36 minutes ago, electro's horse said:

yeah but he barely played. i was just worried about it.

hope it's nothing.

He definitely became a situational player after the injury. The good news is that he was in on the last pay of the game. Delivered a huge hit on Watson (that personally I thought we would get flagged for)

    • Dang, we might not be able to create the same magic from last year!
    • If we were a solid winning organization most of us would have no problems with this selection. We would have had a capable starter in place to allow him to be eased into the rotation. If were told prior to the draft that he had been completely cleared health wise, we "probably" wouldn't have a ton of reservations about this selection. If we had picked this young man on Day 3 of the draft most of us would have no problems with this selection because we wouldn't have had to use draft capital to move up and get him. Unfortunately, none of the above were true 1)  We were a terrible team in 2023 and needed an immediate impact player. 2)  He was hurt near the the end of the 2023 NCAA season. We traded up to get him even though we knew he wasn't medically cleared to play in 2024. 3) When training camp started we were hearing stories that the knee wasn't ready. That alone should have raised some red flags. I personally would have red-shirted him in 2024 in order to have him ready for 2025. We had Chubba as our lead back and other guys to fill the #2 and #3 spots on the depth chart. There was no need to rush Brooks unto the field in 2024. Here's our draft history in the 2nd round between 2021 and 2024 2021 TMJ 2022 No draft choice. We picked Matt Corall in round 3 (#94) as our only Day 2 pick. 2023 Jonathan Mingo 2024 Jonathon Brooks. We have taken 4 skill players on Day 2 of the draft for the past 4 years who have contributed absolutely nothing to the offensive side of the football. 3 are no longer on the team. Two of them are no longer in the NFL. One  could possibly never start a game due to a knee injury. This type of poor drafting is why this team has been so bad for the entire decade.
    • Even limited as he was I still don't think they have replaced his production, and not just the sack stats. The games Clowney missed it was very obvious what his value still was. Risky move but whatever. They only had 32 sacks last year and if that drops then it's going to get ugly. I see the improvement in run stopping but not in pass protect in any way.
