tough questions: are our wide receivers mediocre?

Dj and Samuel have been getting open a good bit this year we just haven’t had the QB play to consistently deliver them the ball. They are usually the 3rd or 4th read in this offense which isn’t helping either of them.

Kyle has missed Samuel on at least 3 or 4 wide open deep balls so far this year.

Our wideout group just doesn’t mesh well with Norv’s system.

I’ve stated before that they lack 1/10th the amount of fire Steve Smith had, but with that being said if either one went to the patriots or saints they may have 1500+ yards

We just lack imagination on offense, our receivers are no worst or better than the 49ers. Our Dline could have dominated their Oline just as bad. But Kyle Shanahan made us pay with screens and misdirections that slowed our pass rush down after getting gashed. We had nothing like that going on with our offense. 

It was quite startling the difference in imagination between the two offenses both faced with aggressive pass rushes.

samuel got pushed out of his space on that first int.  same as in the end zone last game when he somehow made that catch.   he's just not strong enough and doesn't attack the ball.  it looks like they're moving a paper weight out there.

the lb gap integrity was pitiful.  how many times are you gonna vacate the cutback lane when all they're running is cutbacks?

Is Jim Hostler fit for the job?  

We have the athlete's to create seperation.  We have guys who were said to be Elite route runners.  With teams bringing guys up to stop CMC, its leaving our WRs with 1 on 1 matchups.  And we are STILL struggling to get open.

If the offensive line is mediocre........the QB has forced throws....the WRs struggle to catch bad passes.....the backs can't move the chains.......and as a result the defense is on the field too long with their tongues hanging out.......

There I just gave you the problem with the Panthers for the past 25 years............oh and some dumb coaching too...........

I don't even know anymore, it is hard to "evaluate" a team when they get stomped, knocked down and spat on everywhere!  Ron puts on a freaking bandaid when surgery is required!!!!  Everyone with football sense knows it all starts in the trenches!!!

I got poo'd from here to kingdom come at the start of the season when I said our receivers had done nothing to earn the adoration we were giving them around this forum...

They are good receivers, but they need a vertical/red zone threat to free them up underneath.  The defense doesn't respect either of them on the deep ball because they cannot win contested passes.  As long as there's a man close they're going to lose the battle against the DB every time.

DJ would be a lot more effective from the slot and I’ve said that since the day he was drafted. DJ doesn’t have the explosiveness to consistently win on the outside
