Carolina vs Tennessee Stats and Early Musing for Next Sunday

Yes this last game SUCKED. I may be the only person posting about the Titans until Thursday but I don't care. I'm sick of the arguing and finger pointing and want to move on.

DEFENSE

  • Average yards allowed per game :  *Panthers* 16th (350.3)  / *Titans* 9th (335.6)
  • Average rushing yards allowed per game :  *Panthers* 27th (135.1) / *Titans* 12th (96.5)
  • Average passing yards allowed per game *Panthers* 5th (215.1) /*Titans* 15th (239.1)
  • Average points allowed per game : *Panthers* 24th (26.3) / *Titans* 4th (16.5)

OFFENSE

  • Average yards per game :  *Panthers* 23rd (335.4)  / *Titans* 27th (299.0)
  • Average rushing yards per game :  *Panthers* 10th (129.6) / *Titans* 20th (98.3)
  • Average passing yards per game : *Panthers* 25th (205.9) /*Titans* 27th (200.8)
  • Average points per game : *Panthers* 13th (25.6) / *Titans* 26th (18.5)

TURNOVER MARGIN

  • *Panthers* Tied for 6th (+4)  / *Titans*  tied for 2nd (+7) {Pats first with +17}

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

  • Titans win out on most defensive stats, Panthers win on all offensive stats
  • Titans have a bad offense, but a top 10 defense that gets turnovers consistently
  • Panthers overall have mediocre to bad defense, and a mediocre to bad offense

Not a clue who wins this one. I'd expect a lot of running and safe plays by both teams. And a low scoring contest decided by a field goal.

Titans were smart in benching the inconsistent mariotta, tannerhil has played far better in his starts, kinda underrated as a qb imo, there run game isn’t bad either.

basically if we show up like we have most the year we win, Kyle’s gotta grow up fast and fix some of the nuances the 9ers were keying in on him. Disappointed the coaching staff didn’t go over that with him during the bye week to help further his development

I've watched a few of the Titans games since they are the local team where I am. Their offense is about as bad as they come, excluding Henry who is just a beast of a RB.. Their defense is good, but if the team actually shows up to play this time, we should win this game by at least 14+.

Yeah.....Uummm.....This means nothing.  Henry is looking to have a fun day going beast mode and the Panthers will all need to be wearing Depends for next game.

Titans don’t have Shanahan and all the scheming on O.

There also is a type RB that causes the Panthers issues.  It isn’t Henry’s style.

Tenn is just a better matchup for us.

Allen is gonna have a long day vs that D

Allen is gonna be fine.  This isn’t SF. He has faced plenty of good fronts this year.

Total overreaction going on because of one game.  We got the same team that flew out to SF.

He’s face one top 5 D, Titans are the second one he will face

At some point Allen is going to need to make more plays...  I give him "a pass" on the SF game in that the entire team minus CMC looked bad.  And while I don't expect him to carry us against teams like SF, he is going to need to make plays against good defenses at some point if we're going to stay competitive for the next couple weeks... Assuming Cam isn't back before December anyway.  Hopefully he is.

    • It's been many a year since we were in December talking about how games mattered for something other than draft order. This crazy, mixed up, unpredictable, maddening, uplifting and teeth gnashing season has certainly not been boring.
    • If you look at Brown and Horn's contracts, expect to pay above what he is likely actually worth. This is the Panthers suckage tax. Ultimately, much like Derrick Brown, he has steadily improved over time and that's what you want out of your young first round draft picks. He was one of the biggest and most important question marks coming into the season and he has answered it conclusively. He is "the guy" at LT. Great news, one less position of extreme importance to have to attempt to remedy.
    • This is maddening because, well, it's so up and down. When the kid's on, he can be great. When he's mediocre, we can still win based on a strong running game and good defense. When he's bad, and over his history he's this more than not, then it's a sad show that no one could win with. How can anyone know what is going to happen right now? Really. It's like picking one flake in a snow globe and shaking it once a week... there is no telling where it will end up. Things I did see on Sunday from Bryce: his teammates love him; he can make the big throws with good protection and good effort from his receivers. He isn't afraid to run. He can rise up against the best in competition (but he can also sink to the level of bad competition).  All I can say is if Canales goes with an aggressive game plan for Bryce that leans on a hot-hand running game, the team can beat anyone. If there's any wishy-washy play calling, then Bryce melts and couldn't beat anyone.  Maybe the person Bryce needs to win over more than anyone is Canales.
