I don’t really agree with it.

I mean is a first round pick for a legit and proven stud at a position of need not....not a better option than gambling for a player that may or may not be a stud?

I don’t like trading draft picks for draft picks though

Williams hasn't played 16 games since 2013. He's missed multiple games in every season since 2015. He's missed 13 games in the past three seasons, not even counting his holdout games this year. Now he's on the wrong side of 30 and hasn't played a game this season.

Sorry, I'm saying hard pass on Trent Williams if the price is a 1st or 2nd. We have an entire DL to rebuild.

I wasn’t advocating for Trent just speaking on usage of a draft pick as something I am okay with

I don’t want Trent.  Not just the age and health but he also seems problematic in general.

I actually hope no trade happens that takes away our 1st and/or 2nd draft picks. I’d rather we save those for an entire new HC, Coaching Staff & GM.

I agree, but the problem is this staff would want to win now to save their jobs if they feel any sort of heat. They're not going to want to try and make sure their replacements are set to succeed. They'd only hoard picks if they feel they had some sort of job security.

Not sure about Williams.  Too expensive. I do not want to give up a first or second rounder for a 31-year old player.

The trade we COULD be interested in making?

Buc's TE OJ Howard.  Olsen is not worth his deal, and OJ is stuck in a bad system.  I think we could give a fourth rounder and Daryl Williams for him.

Color me skeptical that this happens. We haven't traded for a big-time player since Olsen in 2011. In fact, here's a full list of every player we've traded for since 2011:

Marshall Newhouse

Corey Robinson

Torrey Smith

Kevon Seymour

Andy Lee

Jared Allen

Kevin Norwood

Colin Jones

Louis Murphy

Bruce Campbell

Greg Olsen

The only guy that was good and still in his prime on that list is Olsen. Allen was good for us, but he was in his last season. Colin Jones has been solid, but he's still Colin Jones. Nobody else amounted to anything.

NFL teams don't trade recent first-rounders in-division no matter what.

At this point, following what the Patriots, 9ers, Texans, etc are doing to better their roster right now to compete right now, we should make a move.  I don’t think it’ll happen but Ron never makes moves like this.  Trent Williams or a #1 WR or some secondary help would be ideal! Not holding my breathe.  That whole “don’t sacrifice your future with trading picks” should be out the window as Greg, Cam, Addison, and other vets are over the hill with health and age and we should be in a win now mode. CMC has been carrying this team along with the defense so far this season (aside from yesterday’s game) and they need help. My concern with CMC accounting for 56% of the offense has been in fear for his long term durability as Norv and Aron are running this man to death.

as long as we dont trade a 1st. Nothing is worth trading a 1st for. fug that. Unless you want to tank your franchise for several years..

A first round pick is 100% worth trying to make sure our QB doesn't die on the field. The offensive line gave up 7 sacks on Sunday ffs. The Panthers haven't been able to find an answer at left tackle since Jordan Gross retired.

    • awesome interview. Love the guy.
    • all the trades and using PFFs draft rankings and Gemini's analysis: This is a high-value mock draft that effectively uses trade-down strategies to rebuild the Carolina Panthers' defensive interior and add depth to a roster with multiple holes. By turning mid-round capital into a volume of picks, you've secured several "sliding" stars and developmental high-ceiling players. Based on 2026 PFF big board trends and player value, here is the analysis: Draft Grade: A- The Top Picks: Interior Dominance  * 19. Peter Woods (DT, Clemson): Getting Woods at 19 is a steal. Heading into the 2025 season, he was viewed as a potential top-5 talent. While his production dipped slightly, his 4.75 40-yard dash at 315 lbs is elite. He provides the Panthers with a versatile disruptor who can play 3-tech or slide outside.  * 63. Dontay Corleone (DT, Cincinnati): "The Godfather" is one of the best pure nose tackles in the class. Pairing him with Woods creates an immediate identity for the Panthers' front seven. PFF loves his "unmovable" anchor. Securing him at the end of Round 2 after trading down from 51/53 is excellent value. The Mid-Round Steals  * 83. Deontae Lawson (LB, Alabama): Lawson is a high-IQ "green dot" linebacker. Many scouts projected him as a late 1st or early 2nd rounder before an ACL injury in late 2024. Getting a 2-time Alabama captain at 83 to lead the defense is a massive win for culture and stability.  * 130. Drew Allar (QB, Penn State): This is the "high-upside lottery ticket" pick. Allar has prototypical size (6'5", 240 lbs) and a massive arm. His stock fell due to a 2025 ankle injury and inconsistency, but at 130, he’s a low-risk, high-reward backup/successor to Bryce Young if the former No. 1 pick continues to struggle. Trade Analysis & Late Round Value Your strategy of "tier-dropping" (trading 51 for 53/121 and 53 for 63/95) allowed you to stay in the same talent bracket while picking up Kevin Coleman Jr. (WR) and Genesis Smith (S).  * 168. Parker Brailsford (OC, Alabama): Great value for a technical center who can compete for a depth spot.  * 169. Tacario Davis (CB, Washington): At 6'4", he is a rare physical specimen at corner. PFF and other boards often have him as a Day 2 talent; getting him in the 5th round (via the 161 trade) is arguably your best value pick of the draft. Summary of Picks | Pick | Player | Position | School | Analysis | | 19 | Peter Woods | DT | Clemson | Elite traits; Top-10 ceiling. | | 63 | Dontay Corleone | DT | Cincinnati | Best run stuffer in the class. | | 83 | Deontae Lawson | LB | Alabama | Vocal leader; sliding due to injury. | | 121 | Kevin Coleman Jr. | WR | Missouri | Speed threat to complement the room. | | 130 | Drew Allar | QB | Penn State | High-ceiling developmental passer. | | 169 | Tacario Davis | CB | Washington | Massive reach/length for a late flyer. | Final Verdict You addressed the trenches aggressively and took advantage of "injury discounts" on Lawson and Allar. The only minor critique is that the roster still feels thin at Edge (until the 211 pick), but the sheer volume of talent added to the interior DL and Secondary compensates for it.
