You post this stuff but don’t show HOW the team failed, instead resort to reactionary and dramatic tirades against the people who know better than most the ins and outs of managing a football team

let's begin with week 2 ron rivera:

"“Don’t even worry about the foot,” Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. “The foot’s got nothing to do with it.”"

does that not sound like incompetence to you?

Well hes no longer in the walking boot, is he?  I would think if there was a significant set back, then he would be back in the boot, no?

could be a 100 things. I think he is done.  I think both Cam and the Panthers actually know this.  Cam shut himself down from football for the season week 2.  Carolina knew this.  Neither says it because they really can't.   Pretending like he might comeback is the easiest road for them to go down.

Bet he needs surgery.  As is often the case w/ those type foot injuries.  It is just all slowly playing out.

Coaches lie about injuries. It's not incompetent as much as it's just dishonesty for whatever reason.

Either way, doesn't excuse the fact he shouldn't have even been on the field week 1, let alone week 2.

Someone screwed up somewhere.

I'm as critical as anybody when it comes to the coaching staff, but in this case Rivera could reverse quote Leonard McCoy and say "I'm not a doctor".

There are a lot of things the team can manage. How somebody heals is not one of them. And that's what's really at the heart of this story.

No, it sounds like a coach and franchise that is only honest about things when their hand is forced on this topic.

and Ron's only when 100% has always been a total BS narrative.  100% doesn't exist in the NFL.  Brees is probably 75% right now and won't be 100% in 2019.  He set the bar as something that doesn't exist because Cam will never reach it.

If he needs surgery he should have gotten it 2 months ago.

we don't know his injury history, what the imaging said, what cam said, what the doctors said. it's all speculation.

all we know is that he looked terrible for two games.

I know its a bit of hindsight, but it looks like IR-DTR would have been the best idea back in Week 3.

I'd have to examine the rules, but I don't think it would have made a difference as far as Newton's recovery process.

The only practical difference I can think of is it would have given us a roster exemption and allowed us to pick up another player.

What that has mattered? No idea.
