What QB does Kyle Allen remind you of?

Ok? He has started a grand total of 7 games and is 23.  He is literally learning extreme basics  and was thrust into this position.  The present day Matt Ryan isn’t the comparison.  Ryan doesn’t have a strong arm.

And he is throwing to 5ft tall WRs on the outside  in addition to all that.   Which is something people are ignoring as well.  That isn’t how it works big picture.

Arm strength isn’t the issue.   Reps are.  He also has overthrew Samuel multiple times the week prior in SF.  But because this week they were underthrows it is a weak arm issue?

If you want to believe in his arm that's your choice. I'll use my eyes.

I thought it was overblown too, until last Sunday. He actually underthrew 5 balls, 5!

It was one game where he was that bad. Plus some of those underthrows (the constantly mentioned Jackson near int) was just an excellent play by Jackson, who definitely has the wheels to keep with Curt.

If it continues then it's a problem, but there's not many DBs in the NFL who could make that play.

Now is the time to start my CeeDee Lamb campaign

That's about right...forgot about how Brees looked in SD back in the day.

Honestly kind of a similar throwing motion at that point in his career as well:

But yeah, Allen is a game manager at this point in his career. The real question is what is in between the ears and can he continue to improve week in and week out moving forward. As of right now, he's better than many QB's his age already. The question becomes is this his ceiling or is it higher?

I’m not the one inventing Matt Ryan having a great arm to paint some false narrative.

Matt Ryan has always had someone 6’4 or 6’3 on the outside to throw deep too as well.  That matters.

I mean we got two slot WRs playing on the outside.  It is the reverse of why Captain never worked great on the outside.   And it is ultimately why the deep vertical hasn’t been a big part of what a healthy Cam did under Norv either last year.

If Kyle becomes an upper tier "game manager" (don't really like that term as people think it has a negative connotation) then we could certainly do much worse than him under center.

Long said that you can absolutely win SB's with "game managers", hell the Pats are doing that right now, and did in the early days of Brady.

No, but he can throw bombs. I've seen Matt Ryan overthrow Julio. I'm not seeing Allen overthrow anyone at the moment.

He literally overthrew Samuel the game prior.  IMO that play was one of the reasons 89 talked about “effort”.

But people redefine everything week to week.  He can only throw to right.  Then it is he can only throw to the left.  Then he over throws.  Then he underthrows.

Real answer is he is 23 and played 7 games.  A work in progress and still learning the game and teammates

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
