There is only 1 scenario for Cam Jerrell Newton in 2020

1. He is suited up in a different uniform via a trade.

It really is this simple. Why?

1. Trading Cam would free up 19 mil just like cutting Cam

2.  There were rumors not long ago that at least 10 teams were interested in Cam if he was on the market

3. Tepper, not Rivera or Norv, but Tepper the man himself isn’t stupid enough to just cut Cam Newton and not get anything in return. Cam Newton could net this team as high as a 1st rounder. I’m thinking multiple 2nd and 3rd rounders.

Cam Newton has taken so many hits through his career. Even if he does come back fully healthy, he won’t be the 2015 fully healthy version. There is a reason why a guy like Andrew Luck can just leave this game and hundred of million dollars behind. Cam Newton has taken more hits through the years than Luck. He has never been a great passer and he’s not going to become one overnight. The Panthers didn’t just take Will Grier in the 3rd round because they wanted to, but because they needed to. Ron has spent his entire career here with Cam. Ron knows how Cam’s health and plays have fallen through the years. That’s why they drafted Grier as they were looking for Cam’s replacement. Cam Newton’s time in Carolina has come to an end whether you want to believe it or not.

This is what I expect to happen, not what I want to happen:

Cam Newton will be traded to the Chicago Bears.

*Chicago receives Cam Newton

*Carolina receives Mitch Trubisky + 2nd round

Trubisky is still in a rookie contract which would not hurt this team next year. He needs a change of scenery and Carolina would be a nice place for him. He gets to come back to where he played collegiate football. He brings some experience and would make a nice competition at QB next year. Chicago holds two 2nd round picks which gives them ammunition to make this trade happen.

I don't care how many drat picks we would get, what on earth has trubisky ever shown you in the nfl to show that he's a better option than cam?!

People are absolutely crazy on this board, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Cam is the best thing that has ever happened to this franchise and everyone is ready to throw him under the bus for Kyle Allen, or this guy wants mitch trubisky, give me a break.

Watching Trubisky play for another team actually gave me cancer. Watching him play for my team would be the equivalent of watching my family be murdered while someone dips their buffalo wings in ranch dressing all the while I struggle to pass a kidney stone the size of a soft ball through my cock hole.

I’m not a fan of it too but it’ll happen.

Why do we keep conflating Cam not being good as a traditional drop-back passer with Cam not being a good passer? Cam has always been fine at throwing the football, but he needs to operate with the threat of him running to really shine. Take away the play-action or at least the thought in defender's heads that he might run and you've limited him because he isn't great at just dropping back and picking apart defenses (though he has been able to do it, just not consistently).

Thread title is wrong. Kyle Allen is still the backup. Cam has the rest of the season to heal up and he can come back next year or in the playoffs.

people lol wtf are you acting like 19m is a lot of money? That’s half as much as some other Qb in the league are making per year. Panthers have been lucky as poo with cam’s low cost. If cam gets cut then we are going to have to spend probably that much or more on a Qb very soon.

    • Lil Stanky 100% in the dot tonight... And our 2nd line has been our best offensive line this season. Maybe our 2C really was on the roster this whole time...?
    • That’s a grade I kind of expected tbh. I’m not a huge fan of NS, but he’s not as bad as what the huddle says he is minus the horrible game he had vs the Rams. I’ve always thought he’s often used as a scapegoat. The improved pass rush should hide his deficiencies a little bit better if he’s the game one starter. FS might have to be a position we punt on this year unless Thieneman falls to us at 19. The reality is, you're going to have a few average players in certain spots for a team with as many holes we had before free agency started. You can’t sign everyone.
    • I am by no means trying to say he's a world beater. I'm saying it's trending in the right direction. Especially when measured against himself.i think the team feel the same way or else they wouldn't have picked up his option. Plus I think there is a new idea in the NFL about these young QBs. Teams give up to soon. Browns gave up to soon on baker same with the jets on Geno and darnold. Maybe they are who you thought they were in the draft process and they need more time to develop than you originally planned. Either way. I do think he is as capable as darnold is as far as you can win a championship with him. And something he does have that darnold doesn't is he is clutch.  If I need one more drive and 2 mins to go I'm betting on Bryce and I am far from a homer, just going off his game winning drives. He has that dog in him on the last drive.
