So he, as a supposed defensive guru has noticed a REALLY big problem that's been going on for several weeks and doesn't know how to fix it. Awesome.

I know how to fix it.

Fire him and bring in coaches that know the hell what they're doing. Throw as much money as you can to bring in the best and accept no excuses or dur moments.

I mean how inept do you have to be to get fired. If a coach does anything he brings consistency and identity. This team has neither.

Anyone else notice that this season, Rivera has become more willing to accept that the coaches are making mistakes rather than just putting it all on the players?

I don’t think so, I think he’s genuinely nervous about his job security though

I think the issue is ok, go with the analytics, but also the analytics don’t always work out (I.e the 2pt failed). So, when that happens where does that leave you? I think when you’re dealing with a 2 score deficit like that the rule is a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush, meaning you get the 7 there and live to play another series with either a 1 or 2pt to win. Doing it in scoring drive one has a much bigger chance of deciding the game at that point instead of later. In a tight situation you always want to delay the decision because it gives more time for your opponent to screw up.

We don’t have the guys we need for run defense. It’s that simple. Someone said earlier this year that we sold out to rush the passer in a pass happy league and it was paying off. Except lately we’ve played 3 teams with good running games and in two of those games our pass rush has not worked. We need to find more from our pass rush consistently. Brian Burns really screwed up punching the ground after that tip instead of blocked punt. Him being out is screwing up our pass rush power and it’s hurting what was a great season for him. I’m sure he wishes he had that moment back but also it was fuging stupid.

That'd be....unfortunate....missed opportunity for Rivera to shore up his specialty before he got canned.

No "magic fix" says the ten year head coach who still hasn't brought this franchise back to back winning seasons despite having extremely talented players on both sides of the ball for the majority of his time here.

The longer this drags out the more similarities I see with John Fox and his last couple of seasons with the Panthers.

I don't think Ron is an awful coach, but it should be clear now we have seen the ceiling of this franchise with him at the helm and that ceiling doesn't involve winning a championship.
