The defense and offensive line are just so laughably bad.

I can’t think of a team that has given up so much pressure so quickly every single passing play.

And the run defense gives up 10-15 yards per rush.

Not going to win any games with those problems. The season is over and this team better look very different next season.

Whatever people think about DG, our DL under him was consistently elite in run D and at least average in pass rush, and our OL was solid. Not surprised that when he and his hog molly philosophy left our lines turned to poo.

He trotted out arguably the worst O-line in team history in 2014. Byron Bell and Nate Chandler? Yikes.

OL Is as bad as I have seen. Someone tried to tell me the one with Bell was worse. Really because there are people here that just can't keep from disagreeing with someone.

DL, we are missing some pieces. It is bad and has been bad all year and I really don't get why we went 3-4 I guess it was for pressure.

Part of me thinks we went 3-4 just so Ron could claim he was evolving.  tepper should have fired this GM/Coach combo in the off season.  Ron got one more reprieve and this was the mechanism he came up with to save his ass one more time.   Now his resume will claim 'it takes a year to make the switch' and 'injuries'.

Folks seem to forget that he was still trying to recover from the extreme cap hell we were in at that time, and had no real money to go out and sign any big time OT free agents. So, he did the best he could with the very limited resources at his disposal.

Remind me again, who put us in that cap deficit to begin with? Oh yeah, the same guy who traded multiple draft picks to get a guy who can't seem to stay on the field, and when he does, is about on par (or lower) to the guy we picked up in the sixth round that same draft.

This is the real problem to me not coaching our D and Oline! But I blame the coaches for fielding these terrible lines. We had no business being in this game our Defense was helped by over 10 penalties on the saints offense or else we would've been dogged walked

    • I mean, I hear what y'all are saying, but Derrick could have been positive without being negative.  He essentially accused people of not seeing Bryce's improvement because of their desire to not be wrong. He could've kept it about Bryce and the team. For example, he could've said: "Bryce has made strides, and we believe in him. This coming season, his continued improvement will turn a lot of people into believers."  That would've been supportive of his teammate and sent a message to the doubters. That being said, his tact almost summoned and left the door ajar for more skepticism. That's my take anyway. Bryce has improved from the bottom to perhaps skirting the line between the bottom third and mid-third at best...after three seasons. We've all seen it. Yay! In my mind, Bryce has still got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but my expectations are top five--at least top 10--always! Yes, I am a fan, so there's that, but I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect excellence. Hopefully the Panthers FO has the same mindset (and that doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with what we gave up to acquire him). That is the lens I'm looking through. Derrick Brown has his homer glasses on. He just needs to be more diplomatic and thoughtful with his words in my opinion, but I get it that he's a good teammate.
    • I have no doubt the Canes will come out like gangbusters, huge bounce back from game one - my only concern is Freddie, if he lets in a couple of softies and Dobes stays hot we could be in trouble.
