Sounds about right. After Harbaugh's success with the 49ers, it took them exactly 5 years to get back to being the top dog. However, all it takes is 1-2 great drafts and your window is back open just like that because of rookie deals and such. However, if Hurney is doing that rebuild, we are screwed.

He said it could take 5 years to achieve sustained success.  He didn’t say we are gonna tank it out for 5 years straight.

I mean we already have CMC, Moore, Luke, and Burns with Ian Thomas and Jackson showing flashes. Moton, Delaney and Little are young tackles that need to stay healthy and develop. Short should be around for a couple more years and our salary cap isn’t crippling like it usually is. With the right coach we should be competitive next year and getting better.

Any team can go from 6-10 to 11-5 in an offseason.  But it takes well measured decision making and evaluation to maintain a consistent winner.

We haven’t been competitive for almost 5 years now.  At least we will be building towards something.

Question:  If Hurney is such a great talent evaluator and he’s been in charge of “stocking the shelves” with this aforementioned talent so to speak for the last few years, why exactly is it going to take us five years to be competitive?

Oir roster isnt good though. We have the worst oline in the league and our defense cant stop the run. I also seriously dont think Cam is coming back and even if he does he will never be the guy he was in 2015 again. 

 

In order to be good again we need a good coach, a good qb and a winning attitude. It could take 5 years just to find one of those 3.
