Tepper and McDaniels "on each other's radar"

One thing everybody should probably keep in mind with regard to the next hire.

Tepper has said that he wants a guy who will coach for 20 years like they do in Pittsburgh. So you can expect whoever it is to be given a lot of patience and a lot of time to establish himself.

Basically, whoever we hire is gonna be here for a while.

People either forget, or are not aware, that after McD was fired in Denver, he was offensive coordinator for the Rams for one year (2011)

They were ranked 31st in yards, and 32nd in points scored that year.  Sure Sam Bradford was their quarterback, but people have done much better with far worse QBs.  The year before McDaniels was hired, Pat Shurmur was the Rams OC and they had a league average offense with the same roster and QB.

He's been an abject failure everywhere he's gone outside of NE, and is not a leader of men.

If they cant win, they're not going to be here 20 years

... for about a year and a half now, according to Albert Breer on WFNZ today.

Breer also explained that the departure from Indianapolis came because during the process, McDaniels and Colts GM Chris Ballard came to understand they had very different ideas on their vision for the team going forward.

Thus, it'd be important to McDaniels that he and whoever is in leadership in Carolina would see eye-to-eye.

Oh hi, Nick Caserio. You've met Josh, right?

You mean like they are going on a date?

No idea if he would be the best choice, but if I was Tepper I’d make sure I sat down with Matt Rhule.

    • The OL has certainly been better than the trainwreck it was three or four years ago. As far as competitiveness let's apply some realism and clarity here. Quite a bit of the competitiveness in 2025 came from the defensive side of the ball which gave up the most points in league history the year before and was one of the bottom 5 units in terms of salary cap allocation for 2025 while the OL was top 3. We had the 26th passing offense last year. And if not for a herculean couple of games from Rico Dowdle we don't back our way into the division title or make the playoffs because we went 4-6 in our final ten games including being swept by the Saints who were starting a rookie 2nd round pick most of us mercilessly mocked when they selected him. In conclusion yes we've seen a difference. The question now is will the investment pay off the way we want. But the only way that happens is if we field a top 15 offense. If we can't even crack the top 20 then there need to be some very warm seats across the board. And I would hope just about anyone here should agree with that.
    • These Spurs are lowkey loaded.  If healthy, they could win it all this year (#2 in the West right now). I still think we’ve gotta keep Kalk on Wemby; he’s not getting completely dominated like every other NBA center.
    • Am I the only one who doesn't understand this fan bases infatuation with adding a high end TE? Especially when we have some bigger bodies in T-Mac and Coker who can slide into the slot at times and provide the big dependable target over the middle that most teams use their TE for. I mean, sure, it would be nice to have one of those elite TE's, but I feel like that's a position your better off going cheap with a committee who each bring something different to the table while spending our cap room on the more important positions. I like the potential we saw from Evans this year, Sanders could be a best if he can stay healthy, and Tremble has improved as well.  Just feels like spending high draft picks or cap space on other needs and more important positions is a better use of our resources than splashing on a TE in the draft or FA. Are those guys on the level of the Bowers or McBride's of the world?  Of course not, but we also are paying a fraction of the cost on our TE room than they are, and we're able to use that money for other needs.
