"Panthers need to address the Center position and the OT play will come"

Moose was on WFNZ this afternoon

He harped pretty hard how we need to address the Center position.

Mentioned how important that position is

Said while this teams never had a strong OL, its not a coincidence that this OL took a turn for the worse when Ryan Kalil's health began to decline.

While talking about the Centers role.  He compared it to Luke at the MLB, but having to point out defenses and blocking assignments.  And how this season how lost the OL looks in general.   And pointing out Paradis's struggles.

He did mention while the OT's havnt looked good. That they are still young and talented.  And that change at Center with a good smart guy in the middle like Ryan in his prime will make them better.  Said doesnt matter who the QB is, until thats fixed.

Yeah need more power at the center position. Paradis problem is that he doesn't have the strength we need at the position. Paradis can't pass block well at all against powerful DTs, and although he is very detailed and precise in his run blocking, his blocks are kind of weak. I want a bigger lummox out there like Max Unger. Get to work Hurney.

C LG is the biggest need for our line for sure.

Yes--you have to give the Tackle time to develop--Moton rode the bench for a year or more--and he was a bit green when he finally got the nod.

You have to see it all--the league--the moves, the speed, etc.   It takes time.

C was terrible this year.  Absolute train wreck.  LG?  VR pulled well, reached the second level well.  Got stalemated in the run game and bull rushed in the pass game.

Tackles need to develop--there are very few natural LTs in college---for anyone to expect a rookie to step in and be a stud---it just rarely happens.  Thomas at Cleveland comes to mind--Boselli maybe.  Heck, Gross started off at RT and struggled before  being moved to LT--and it took time-and he was a top 10 pick.

No arguing we have a huge need at center.

Remember when we were all excited about Matt Paradis? Oy.

Just please also give Taylor Moton a shot on the left and I'll feel better knowing we at least tried.

Ive got 2 tickets to paradis.

Pack your bags, we'll leave tonight.

Not sure where I am going with this--maybe the "pack your bags" part?

Let's see if any of these millennials with their paciphones can get this one.  I bet Money they cannot.

I was pretty excited about the Paradis signing. He was a great center for the Broncos. But, it really surprised me how long some defended him. I mean, honestly he's been Amini level terrible.

When are you going to learn to never get excited about a Hurney signing?

I tried to defend him--he had a decent game when we were winning and I thought he turned the corner---It was like watching a highlight reel or accepting a blind date by seeing a photoshopped picture.

I understood way too much of that :)

We couldnt wait to waste a pick to move up for Greg Little. The Greg Little who when not injured, which was most of the season, was getting his ass whipped. Having seen him play for several years in college, it didnt take a scout to see he never progressed after his freshman season. We took him at 37 and skipped Risner at 41, Jenkins at 44 and McCoy at 48. All 3 can play center and we whiffed. All to take a guy who due to concussion issues probably wont be playing in a couple of years.

It's funny, bc as I was watching the SNF game last night, and saw Morse out there for the Bills, all I could think was, "whodathunkit?"  Paradis was the best graded center in the league at one point before his injury and he was considered the best FA C by many this offseason.  I just did not think a broken leg would've had that effect, but it was either that or scheme-fit.

    • This season only ends one way... We win this Sunday. Bryce is decent. We take back 1st place...   Only to then get our brakes blown off in the last two weeks.
    • Here's one of the most maddening things, that will be shown in full light over the next three weeks. The same people around here that called Darnold a bum and Mayfield a washed up over draft are also the ones saying Bryce is a catastrophe. Yeah, and I've been one who said Bryce wasn't big enough, brave enough or capable enough. I said back in the day that Darnold had a lot of fight in him and got shouted down. And on Mayfield, heck I didn't know, I just knew we had a very, very bad team that was run terribly. But I saw both of those guys go out there and resurrect their careers and be play-off bound since shaking the Carolina clay dust off their cleats. And we sat there and cat called their cars as they pulled out of the parking lot, laughing at what nobodies they were. Over the next three weeks, those two guys may just serve us sh!t sandwiches and then settle down to their just desserts. And then we'll probably let Bryce go off into the realm of other teams. And when that happens, will we see him coming back, better than before and we're left to re-sit this cycle all over again? Same naysayers, same results, same revolving carousel of ponies and pundits?  Will we end up looking like the Temu version of the San Diego Chargers back in the day watching Drew Brees come to fruition in the previously moribund Superdome while we whiff on a Manning pick just to be jilted for Phillip "Always a Bridesmaid" Rivers?
