The darkhorse Candidates for HC....

Who do you think are some of darkhorse candidates are for Head Coach? We all know about McDaniels, Roman, Harbaugh, Rhule, Riley but who are some guys flying under the radar?

Obviously pure speculation here but here are a few names to look out for in the interview process:

Brian Daboll, Buffalo Bills OC: His name has actually been mention in some threads before but not to the degree that the names above have gotten. Daboll comes from the Belichick tree as he was an assistant in New England before moving on to another championship winning team in Alabama under Nick Saban. He is highly intelligent and has put the Bills' offense in prime position and is actually making Josh Allen look decent. Considering recent reports that Carolina is looking at Caserio for the GM position and add in the fact that Carolina has several connections in Buffalo, if McDaniels somehow is not in play, don't be surprised if Daboll's name does come up.

Brian Schotteinheimer, Seahawks OC: Now I know there will be some out there who won't like this choice but Schotty is actually doing fairly well for himself in Seattle by having a top tier offense led by Russell Wilson. I think right now, Seattle is 4th in scoring and 9th in yardage and could really do wonders with Cam and CMC. Plus, his dad has ties to the area and may want to be closer here.

Don "Wink" Martindale, DC for the Ravens: More than likely Carolina will be looking at an offensive guy for the head coaching position, however, I have a feeling that Martindale will get a lot of looks once the season is done. "Wink" (as they call him) has the Ravens' defense in prime position and is producing one of the best Ravens defense that hasn't been seen since the days of Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs were there . The Ravens also run a hybrid defense and would fit well with the continuation of what the Panthers were trying to do this season. The only requirement would be for him to bring in someone who is willing to put the offense in prime position ( one possibility could be QB coach, James Urban)

There may be more names but these are guys to keep an eye come interview time. They may be complete long shots but worth mentioning. Thoughts?

Tepper left open options for both college and defensive coaches, but it really doesn't sound like they're going with either.

LaCanfora mentioned Brian Daboll as a strong possibility. He also said they're going to be "casting a wide net" but it wasn't clear whether that would just be in the initial stages or the actual interviews.

I for one am Glad that Tepper has gone on record that he wants an Offensive minded coach. It's time guys. We've had so many damn 'Defensive' Gurus in this organization that we need to think outside the box. The league itself is implementing more offensive minded thinking than Defense. Although no completely disregarding defense either. Don't get that twisted.

There are only a few guy's I'd want if they decide to go Defensive Coordinator again, Ravens DC and SF DC. Those are the guys I wouldn't be mad at.

And your point is?

Please be specific...

    • Went to school in MD when this came out. Dance floor got CRAZY when this joint came on!
    • They had best show out in Week 1 there are zero,I mean zero,  excuses for that offense  defense, haven’t play together yet and they still have Mr Soft and Predictable as DC  I expect break downs at times  …but that offense returns all starters except Tremble and both Mayes and Brady are veterans and can play LG and know the system not up for any participation awards this season they can save that practice energy for Jacksonville.     I’m sick of the, winning,  or looking competitive, when it doesn’t matter.
    • There are some tough decisions that I'm eager to see the results of... Does Blackshear sneak on to the roster as RB4? Does the team go with 4 TEs or just 3 again? And has Mitchell Evans done enough to defend his roster spot from James Mitchell? Who is WR6 and is there a WR7? TMac, XL, Coker, and AT seem to be locks imo and I'm assuming Renfrow also makes it due to all of the camp praise. Who makes it between Brycen Tremayne, Jimmy Horn Jr, and David Moore? If the team goes with 7 WRs, which one of those three doesn't make it? Jacolby George and Emani Bailey both have not gotten a lot of game time. Could the Panthers be trying to hide them so that they can be stashed on the PS? Do they go with 10 OL instead of 9? Who makes it out of Walton, Carter, and Kingston? DL locks are DB, BB3, ARob, and Turk. That leaves Jaden Crumedy, Cam Jackson, Sam Roberts, Shy Tuttle, and LaBryan Ray all competing for the final 1 - 3 spots. Does DJ Johnson get IR'd and Thomas Incoom make the roster as EDGE5? What in the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck is going to happen at LB? Only locks seem to be Wallace, Rozeboom, and Cherelus (Wallace has mentioned in media how Cherelus has been big bro for him on the team). Rhattigan had some good moments against Houston, Martin-Scott is an SC guy, Krys Barnes has popped on defense and on special teams, and Windmon got time starting for the team last season. Are two of those guys going to make it or are the Panthers poaching from another team's cuts? CB5... who is it? Do they go with the 4 expected safeties or bring in a 5th? Has Ransom done enough to take the start from Nick Scott?
