I think he is desperate. Ron's pride was hurt by being fired before the season ended. He better be prepared for the Washington media if he's hired. They won't be scared to call him out like the Charlotte media was.

It... it... it's gonna be so damn beautiful when that happens!

On paper the skins have a good bones for a good defense.

I'll laugh my ass off if he brings Shula in to run their offense after shurmer gets sacked in NY though.

That would be the most Rivera move ever.

LMAO

Here's what I contend about this story, if true...

Ron knows that if he goes to a place where he can service the owner's d1@k in his mouth and defer blame for years and years at the same time, then he will have another comfy, highly-paid position for another five-to-nine years.

Without accomplishing jack-poo (because he doesn't have the ability to accomplish jack-poo).

Possible motive

Redskins is a good job to take if you don't want to work very hard and lack ambition;  there were a lot of reports about how Rivera would never spend any overtime in Carolina working on preparation and checked out early

He might just want to cash a fat check from Snyder (who always overpays), and realizes that even if he loses a lot, people will mostly blame the dysfunctional owner.  Redskins fans always blame Synder for everything and rarely ever the coaches.

It's a good retirement coaching spot, although Rivera is still young

They don't call him Riverboat for nothing....

the last thing rivera wants is a team with high expectations. he wants a situation with plenty of excuses.

Correct, he is going to a division that sucks right now.  He knows he can go 8-8 and still maybe make the playoffs.
