According to SI, he was never in contention in NY because Rivera and Gettleman hated each other

this is the perfect snyder hire. rivera is very GM friendly. i don't recall ever hearing him campaign for certain roster moves to be made or certain players to be pursued. he just used what they gave him and tried to get the most out of it. there aren't many coaches with pedigrees like his that have been so hands off in terms of wanting a degree of say so in those matters. in washington, you have to understand that your opinion on players doesn't much matter.

None of that is a shock.  Rivera is as nice of a guy as it gets and Gettlemen lacked basic people skills and was essentially an ass because of it.  The Gettlemen way isn’t the Ron way.  Ron doesn’t seem the type that would enjoy one season with Dave. 

Redskins about to land a great hire for their franchise.   That type team has Ron’s name written all over it.

Rivera beat the dog poo out of the Skins overall in his tenure here. 

Worst thing you can do is judge Rivera in a year he lost his franchise QB and had weak talent up front on defense.  

Carolina had a talent issue in 2019.  Not a coaching issue.  I mean Ron does have a clear ceiling as a HC.  But odds don’t favor the next dude being as good.  Just is what it is.
