Memories of the Past Decade

Mr. Scot

I would have to say that that 2015 NFC championship game was probably my most favorite memory is a sports fan. Even more than the Super Bowl in 2003.And then the next game rolled around and that was my worst memory as a sports fan.

I literally teared up at the end of that 2015 game and thought that that was the best team I had ever seen play football.

The energy in BOA during the 2nd half on the 2015 NFC Championship game was almost on a spiritual level.

It was amazing being there live.  Listening to Cam's primal scream of ecstasy during the post-game interview while the crowd chanted "MVP" is forever seered into my memory as one of the greatest sports moments ever.

It was the highest of highs followed 2 weeks later by the lowest of lows.  I never envisioned us losing that game.

It sucked and still does.  2003 was magical, but it was so awesome just to have that playoff run and get to the Super Bowl.  I was disappointed that we ultimately got so close, but I knew going in we were massive underdogs.

2015 seemed like a year of destiny.  It's hard to forgive Rivera & Shula for their lack of adjustments and then Gettleman for his arrogance in dismantling that team following the season.

it was like that right before jake threw 5 interceptions against the cardinals in the playoffs.   higher vibes than any concert i've ever been to, i couldn't believe it.    that ;must have been so amazing to have been there when things went right.  obviously i can't imagine it.

2015 was a magical year. Our team had a true identity and was purpose driven. We were confident and backed it up with physical play. The energy at home games was off the charts --- remember the electricity and energy in BOA for the NFC Championship game? The stadium literally shook with excitement, the confetti fell like rain and this old man's eyes filled with tears of joy.

FFW to 2019 - Who are we? What happened and how did we so fuggin far off track. We have gone from feared to laughed at and the butt of the joke.

It's a shame they canceled the Super Bowl that year.

At least that's how I remember it :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

Cam Newton suffered many concussions, shoulder injuries, and ultimately, a lisfranc fracture

Sean Mcdermott went to Buffalo

For me, it is Thanksgiving 2015. I've been a Panther fan since the beginning but moved to Dallas in 1996 after college. I would go to the occasional game when we played New Orleans (7 hour drive) but seldom got to go to Panther games. I took my oldest son with me to watch the Panthers dismantle Dallas in Jerry World.

This was one of the greatest games along with beating Arizona in the NFC Championship

This decade produced some great moments but also some awful ones.  I’d add winning the division three straight times and watching TD resurrect his career after three acl tears as a few more good ones. As for the awful:

-The Richardson revelation

-Greg Hardy

-Letting Steve Smith go

-Super Bowl 50

-San Fran wrecking us in the playoffs

-Cams car wreck

-Luke’s Concussion

-TD’s knee injuries

-Saints sweeping three games in 2017

-Marty hurneys post first round drafting.

You left out the re-hiring Hurney part

Yep. I was at that game in 2008 too.  The start was incredible.  It was raining but basically stopped right when the game started.  It was a night game, so people had time to get rowdy, and we hadn't hosted a playoff game since 2003.  It was the first playoff game I had ever been to- BOA was raucous and as loud as I've ever seen it to start the game.

We marched right down the field and scored a TD like we were well on our way to the SB.  We then got the ball back looking like we would take control, but then Jake fumbled, and a downward spiral of epic proportions that lasted through the end of 2010 transpired.

excellent points. Let’s expand on that a bit Mr. Wilson.

the culmination of injuries are a result of Cam NOT being provided an offensive line that wasn’t acutely, offensive.

Ron Rivera rode the coattails of Cam Newton from 2011 until Mr. Tepper released him of services in 2019.

To your point. Ron Rivera also rode the coattails of Sean McDermott. Maybe Ron is not the defensive genius he promotes himself to be.

Until we win a super bowl, nothing will ever top 2015 for me. Season was magical and so damn fun. The comebacks, the early season close games, Cam being magical, the dabbing, the group photos. I’ll never forget that season, and hate we couldn’t close it out.

2015 playoff (non superbowl) were great, but not as good as the best game.

The Cardinals game was just over immediately. They couldn't play with the Panthers.

The Seahawks game was miserable because we got out to a huge first half lead that slowly, slowly started being whittled away. If there was a fifth quarter theres no doubt in my mind that Seattle would have taken the lead.

Now, the SNF Patriots game......
