Browns is McDaniels dream job.

I also feel the "dream job" aspect of the Browns is more based on him growing up in the area.  Playing HS ball in the area, etc.  Local teams, especially of the team you were local as a kid/teenager/growing up often can take up a place in your heart regardless of how dysfunctional they may later turn.

Of course he will talk big about any interview prospect he has lined up.

That and he really likes Mayfield. Word is he was going to get NE to trade up for Baker if he fell in the draft.

The Browns aren't exactly a dream organization to anybody right now.

There's a difference between "wouldn't it be cool to work for the team I grew up watching" and "man, I'd sure love to work for Jim Haslam".

The other difference being Haslam is a known quantity, whereas it's not entirely clear what kind of owner Tep ends up being long-term. For my money, I'd prefer to be HC in CLT over the CLE dumpster fire.

Y'all going to be upset when we hire him for HC. Y'all going to jump ship and go join another fanbase?

Yes I'll be upset. He's not at all who I want. No I won't jump ship. I will hope he proves me wrong and wins like hell and shows himself to be a fine human being who commands his players respect. I'm not holding my breathe that will happen, but I'm a Panthers fan. If he turns out to be great, i'll be thrilled to be wrong. If he sucks I'll be the guy handing out pitchforks and saying I told you so.

The advantage there is that they are in position to give him Belichick level control.

As of now, so are the Panthers. Hurney's role still remains undefined, and would have to assume any one of these coaches being interviewed would be afforded the opportunity to bring in their own FO personnel.
