Tepper on the Rhule hire: "He dresses like $#!& and sweats all over himself"

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Tepper's view:

Old NFL - hire one side of the ball minds like Rivera or Reid who are good at what they do, but never got the game or player managing down and as a result lots of wasted timeouts, close losses, missed opportunities, and frustrated fanbases

New NFL - make your head coach an excellent game manager and developer and delegate both the offense and defense. Head coach's job is to make it as easy as possible for each side of the ball.

Sounds like Tepper fell in the love with Rhule the person not the coach.

Much like Tepper likes Hurney the person. Which is starting to cloud his judgement on Hurney the GM.

I said the same thing. Im also about 98.729% sure if Tepper was the owner when Chip Kelly was lava hot, he would have hired him.

“He dresses like (expletive) and sweats all over himself. He dresses like me, so I have to love the guy,” Tepper said with a laugh. “I was a short-order cook, he was a short-order cook. Nobody gave him anything, nobody game me anything."

Perhaps they can team up when they retire and operate a Hog farm together. :)

But if he hired Bieniemy, he might have had a short short order cook.

I'm more in the "getting to know" phase than "honeymoon" phase.

One thing I admit caught my attention: In a radio interview (linked in the other thread) the host asked him how much he knows about our personnel. His answer was that he didn't really know anything. He'd need to start learning about the players when he got here.

Granted, a college coach isn't gonna be scouting a pro team, but that surprised me a little.
