Big Ben is out for the season and no one bats an eye. Andrew luck misses an entire season due to injury and no one question his starting position or job security. Cam newton goes on IR for the first time in his career and suddenly he needs to be traded.

If Cam is healthy and willing to play the last year of his contract out, then hell yes we keep and play him. Build a O-line around him (and for the future) and a D-Line and get players who love playing football. Cam can energize a crowd and wants to win no matter his off field personality and dress. With CMC and DJ we have some talent around him. Then we can decide to pay him or not next year based on his play and health.

If he doesn't stay or we keep him, at least we started building the O-line and D-line for the next QB. He has some injuries but the QB position is easier to overcome than other positions. That's why good or proven QBs stay so long in the league. It's more about if you can play the game at a high level and Cam has proven he can. Most can't.

Because he is a black QB. Everyone here well mostly rooted for Kyle Allen as if he was pro bowl material after 6 games. Even after Kyle got injured last year after 1 game. They never questioned or wanted him gone.  You got to understand that cam has always been hated in Charlotte by the majority of the fans. They just tolerated him because we were expected to win every game. Get a good ole golden boy as QB and the criticism goes away and the excuses are made for why he can't win every game. The fan base still has some busch drinking losers to get rid of.

I vividly remember a number of huddlers sitting around talking about how poised and graceful Allen looked after we lost to the Packers.

There's simply no doubt there are some fans who only want a white quarterback to root for.

Since Chud left THIS is the best coach for Cam to walk through that door.

Cam has taken 99% off the hard hits STANDING in the pocket.

When Chud used Cam like modern day coaches do he RAN his QB and set up the blocks for #1.

THIS coach RUNS his QB. Modern style of coach for a player who was ahead of his time.

It's a win, win for coach and player.

Ben gets hurt a lot and is a genuine a-hole. He's also pushing 40 and coming off a major arm surgery. The Steelers should definitely consider moving on from him.

Stafford? Dude what is this narrative that he's always hurt coming from? Before this season Stafford hadn't missed a game since 2010. Stafford isn't talked about being replaced ever because through the entirety of the dumpster fire that is the Detroit Lions organization, he has been a solid football player the entire time.

People are talking about moving on from Cam for a number of legitimate reasons that have nothing to do with personal hatred for the guy:

  • Cam has not been healthy since 2015.
  • The majority of those injuries have been related to his throwing shoulder. The newest is a foot injury that has a high risk of re-injury even after treated.
  • Cam has taken more hits than any QB in the league since he was drafted. Even little hits add up if you take enough of them.
  • Cam has an expiring contract and is not going to be extended based on his recent injury history
  • It would save the team 20 million if they moved on from him this offseason.
  • We are about to start a rebuild and freeing up Cap space would help said rebuild.

I say this as a huge fan of Cam Newton but there are LEGITIMATE reasons to consider moving on from him. Tons of question marks with few sure answers. Do you bet the team's future on a guy who hasn't been healthy for 5 years when the 2020 season starts? What is the backup plan if you do so? Are there options at QB where we are drafting? What about cheaper more consistently healthy options in FA? Is it a viable alternative to Cam? If so, at what cost?

Legitimate questions for a lot of future uncertainty.

Well said. I guess I was thinking of his first two seasons when he was hurt and how he always has injuries and plays through. I like Stafford that wasn’t a knock towards him at all

How come they love Russell Wilson? Lamar Jackson?.....

Good press. The media loves them. This goes for ANYONE, if the media hates you there are people who ingest that bias. Look at our country for an example.

The media hated on Cam Newton from DAY ONE and it created a false bias against him. All he's done his whole career is prove them wrong.

Now it's "injury history" Cam has been durable and healthy for most of his career. Bet against him at your own peril.

I can see your point but that may be 10% or less of fans in this market. If he was marketed by the national media as accurate and a great guy, it would be so, because the media also tells us people are great when they really are just good/learning ala Kyle Allen for their own purposes(Cam to Chicago).

I'm sorry but Cam has been hurt/injured for 4 years running. That is a significant injury history. Cam hasn't been healthy since his MVP 2015 and hasn't looked anywhere near as consistently dominant since which is concerning as well.

i personally want him gone because, to me, he's a giant man baby.   now he's got an instagram post about being forgotten and dangerous.  what other qb said they feel dangerous - baker mayfield - another giant man baby.

Possibly the worst take in huddle history.

This needs to be addressed.
