The case for Jameis

So it is seeming more and more likely that Philip Rivers may be heading to Tampa Bay to pilot the dangerous Buccaneers offense, which makes it more likely that Jameis Winston will be a free agent. Now here me out, I know he has a lot of problems with turnovers, like a lot a lot, with this new Joe Brady vertical offense, and the with the aid of a consistent running game/check down option, Jameis could really excel within this system. Another things he brings (This is all assuming we move on from Cam of course) would be experience within a Joe Brady type offense, a unique energy, and a sort of instant offense to bring a certain launching pad from the basement of the passing attacks to almost assuredly near the top and with something Jameis has never had, an elite run game to balance out his hero ball methodology. This move would either make us instant contenders or instant implosion, one way or the other you have a solution at QB, Jameis succeeds or Jameis fails and we get a top QB in the next draft.

Thoughts on this? The perfect fit in Brady's offense with maddening decision making, or do we seek a rookie to lead us?

If we get rid of Cam (assuming would be because of his health), and the staff really wants a healthy experienced player rather than bringing a rookie this year...I honestly wouldn’t mind it, only if it’s a 1 or 2 year deal (which I doubt Jameis would accept though).  It’s crazy how boom or bust Jameis is, there’s no in between AT ALL.  When he’s having a good day...oh my god.

I don’t think Winston will ever change. Arians coaching him was the last hope for that and he proceeded to throw 30 interceptions. Let someone else chase something that doesn’t exist. If it was purely as a stopgap placeholder while we tank, sure but then it doesn’t even matter who it is.

We have Cam and he can do everything Jameis can, only better.   Also next year is not a tank year.  Look experiments are fine but we are now committed to winning.  We can go 8-8 and that’s better than 1-15 because it is closer to 16-0 which should be our goal.

Cam “used” to. We don’t don’t if he can anymore. Panthers fans are still living in 2015.

Joe Brady is only here for a year so we don’t got time to “rebuild”. We’re going all out this year and Cam ain’t goin nowhere..fed up with all these threads already writing Cam off

How do you figure Brady is only here for a year? The writing is on the wall with Cam.

5,000 yards is the most overrated stat in football, bruce arians was supposed to limit his turnovers and look at how that turned out. he's been given about 4 and a half chances already he doesn't need a 5th, we know what he is.

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
