I remember quite a few folks saying before Rivera was fired some version of “I would rather suck for a few years if it meant getting us out of this never ending mediocrity.” I was one of them. I’m still fully willing to suck for a while. What will be interesting is how many of those folks are willing to stick with it vs how many will bail at the first sign of awful under the new regime.

My ultimate problem with "being terrible for a few years" is that teams that are typically that bad for that long have a very, very difficult time getting better. Not to mention, those coaches almost never see the end of those "terrible" years.

Frankly, what we should be seeing under a rebuilding is something like Ron was accomplishing roughly 6-9 win seasons. If we start seeing 0-5 win seasons regularly, don't expect to be able to pull out of that dive easily.

I’ve noticed this coaching staff is in my generation and even younger. This makes me sad.

Makes me feel we're trending in the right direction. I didn't want a coaching staff where my generation (X) would be considered young.

You sound like the guy in high school that went after the popular girls with loose gaping holes because collectively they are considered attractive and popular by everyone, yet you pass up the cute quiet girl with glasses that wears a sweater that ends up being smoking hot and a great personality, and didn't have 50 dicks pounding her brains out.

all coaches need a starting point. All great coaches were brand new at one point, no names buried on a staff.  Sometimes a "name" or what looks good "on paper" ends up being old and rotten. We have a lot of new, young, unproven blood that could end up developing into quite the innovative staff we need.

I think we should give Rhule the benefit of the doubt, and see if he can start and build his own dynasty off of his own risks and intuitions.

Tell me how you really feel
