Greg Olsen interested in playing for Ron Rivera in Washington...

So much for him playing for a ring is he does go to the Skins. I would hate to see third leg Greg go to another rebuilding team.

REPORT: Greg Olsen interested in Playing for Ron Rivera in Washington

Greg Olsen will not return to Carolina, he and the team agreed last week, but he may return to playing for Ron Rivera.

Olsen would consider signing with Washington to reunite with Rivera, the Washington Post reports.

The Panthers hired Rivera as their head coach in 2011, and they traded for Olsen later that offseason. Olsen played for Rivera in Carolina until the Panthers fired Rivera last season. It would make sense for the two of them to reunite, Rivera because he would like a strong veteran presence on his team, and Olsen because he would like to play for a coach he knows and is comfortable with.

However, Olsen turns 35 next month, and if he’s in a hurry to play for a winner, he may question whether Washington is the place to go. He also is sure to have job offers if he decides to work in television rather than play another season.

Unless they gave him 5 to 6 mil a year, he ain't going there. He probably will play for the Steelers, patriots or GB just for a chance at a ring.

Same thing was said about Kalil if he came out of retirement and he went money hunting with the Jets.

Ehh... hang on a second, if you dig into that article you find that the only actual quote they cite by Olsen is this:

“At this time I have not closed the door on any potential career options,” Olsen said. “I still have the love of football in my heart and will explore all opportunities presented to me.”

That's in a Washington Post article, whose hometown team is the Redskins. I think what they are basically doing is taking Olsen's statement that he'll consider all opportunities and spinning it to say Look, he could come here to play for his old coach! Probably for clickbate reasons would be my guess.

Until Olsen actually says something specific with regards to the Redskins, I'd take that with a huge grain of salt.

Yeah, this was really lazy of PFT. I doubt they even read the article before they ran with this "report". Just a local paper speculating that Olsen giving Rivera shout out in his statement and saying that he'll explore opportunities = Olsen is open to playing for the Redskins.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
