How much faith do you have left in KK Short?

I like Short, but honestly the problem for us and KK is that he's over the hill and is going to be hard pressed to live up to his contract.

At this point in his career he needs to be a complimentary piece instead of a pillar for the organization to build around.

Short won't be a part of the Panthers next Super Bowl run, and his value to the team is more likely as a trade piece in a rebuild.

KK's best football days are behind him. He will continue a slow decline in play until he retires to his mansion. That's not the end of the world for us, but we need to be more willing to let good 2nd round DTs walk out the door rather than locking them into huge contracts. Having a busted up DT sitting on a huge pile of money with more money guaranteed in INSANE. KK is not Kris Jenkins, and even Jenkins ended up injured and worthless toward the end of his career. STOP paying LBs, non-superstar DTs, and RBs crazy money. Focking stop it! This organization is crazy.

Now Panthers fans will do the following:

1.) We need to draft a DT 7th.

2.) He's great! Pay him a huge contract so he doesn't leave.

3.) He's banged up and sucks! Hurney is an idiot for giving him that contract! We're stuck with him!

STOOOOOOP THIS CYCLE! We have to stop being the dumbest team in the NFL!

Years ago he seemed like one of the best DTs in the league. Over the past few seasons though, (since getting paid) he has seemed far less than that.

Is KK Short still a dominant DT in this league?

You can't ask the huddle about faith in ANY play except Cam, sir.

    • The Panthers are going to have a lot more flexibility in free agency than it looks like at first glance. On paper, the cap space might seem tight, but there are several obvious restructure candidates that could easily free up significant room. Between converting base salaries into signing bonuses and spreading cap hits out over future years, Carolina could realistically clear $60–80 million in additional space if they wanted to be aggressive. That kind of flexibility means they’re not stuck. They can extend key young pieces, add help along the offensive line, upgrade the defense, and still be strategic about value signings. Letting Cade Mays test the market makes sense from a leverage standpoint. If he’s willing to come back on a team-friendly deal, great, continuity on the line matters. But if his market price climbs, the Panthers should absolutely explore upgrades. The point is, this front office isn’t boxed in. With cap maneuvering and smart structuring, they have the ability to be active players in free agency rather than sitting on the sidelines like we are used too.
    • Man, that is a lot of guys that played meaningful snaps for us last year we are letting test free agency... Kind of worried we are going to lose Yosh
    • With his play the last few years, pretty sure he quit the league 4 or 5 years ago...
