Maybe a year or two but I doubt much longer than that.

Man please... At this point you're close to a expansion team... We got almost to fully rebuild every position on this team... That's not a 2 or 3 year thing.. Especially if you're not perfect drafting... I don't see the logic at this point...

I think this is a mistake. I say that knowing Turner has gotten fat and lazy since getting a new deal. Newsflash 99% of the other players do the same. I already do not want to pay Bradberry....Im just tired -very- tired of adding replacements to a already HUGE number. Panthers are close to needing 2 of everything(except RB). Hes still young at 26 and the salary is a tad high, the new staff could get turner back to being a top 5 RG.

Maybe, but don’t fret. This is a full rebuild. We won’t fill all the holes this year, but it will be good to get more picks and save some money for future.

So we shopping our 2nd best lineman?lol

Not even sure why we would bring Cam back behind this line. It's not like we have a lot of cap space to make something happen in FA. Turner is only 26 he could still be a pro bowl guard in the future. We getting rid of one of our better lineman doesn't really make sense imo.

What is the goal in trading Turner?

You might've hit the nail in the head. The goal might be to scare cam away by making him hold out. The team realizes being the bad guy in this will piss off many fans, this could cause a Cam holdout (not showing up for Camp) allowing us to justifiably cut him. Rhule was obviously attempting to throw water at a forest fire. It will slow it down a tiny bit, but it doesn't last long.

I looked at over the cap and thought--"He ain't goin anywhere" a few weeks ago.  When I hear of a trade being shopped it never serves your team's best interest to leak it.  We did.  Is this a message to Cam?   I don't know---just throwing what I heard at this.

It's not the Panthers leaking. It's reporters throwing things at the wall.

Do you really see any of the pieces we are letting walk (reportedly) as being core pieces? Bradberry? Turner? Irvin? McCoy? Olsen?

Losing these players will hurt us in the short term but honestly no real impact in the intermediate to longer term. They aren’t really that great of players that you need to keep around. The only core piece we’ve lost is Luke from retiring, and there’s nothing we could’ve done about that.

We have serious potential to add some young studs in this draft with where we’re picking and will likely add more picks this year and/or next year, while also clearing a lot of cap space. Moton, Little, Daley, Thomas, McCaffrey, Moore, Samuel (?), Armah at FB (if we use one) is actually a pretty solid core on offense. D needs a total revamping and will likely be the reason we are trash this year and getting Trevor, but we’re in good shape to add an elite game changing D player this draft. Can also use FA. If we do get Lawrence next year, the only holes on offense will be interior OL, which are the easier positions to find capable starters at. Then you build up the D in the draft and FA starting this year, shouldn’t really take more than 1 to 2 years with Lawrence before we’re making the playoffs and contending.

I think we’re in better shape now than we were after 2010 when we drafted Cam. And it was only 2 years of losing with Cam before we made the playoffs 4 out of 5 years, and that was with Rivera as coach... Hopefully Rhule is better.

My guess is the Panthers aren't committed to trading Trai but are open to offers to see what kind of value they can get for him. They're likely hoping they can sell high assuming other teams probably value him more than the Panthers right now. Whatever you think of his play, teams still see on paper a 26 year old guard who made the pro bowl for 5 straight years. And keep in mind that whatever team trading for him wouldn't be responsible for the signing bonus/restructure part of his contract, so they would be paying him essentially a 2 year, $20.5 million salary with minimal guarantees. Joe Thuney has made zero pro bowls and some team is going to offer him $14 million per year. You don't think several teams are going to see Turner's contract with that resume and not salivate? I think he'll warrant a 3rd easily and possibly even a 2nd for a team that thinks there'll only a player or two away. If that's not the case, then keep him. You're going to struggle to find a better guard as a 4th or 5th round rookie and our line can't afford to be much worse.

P.S. Please don't turn this into an expose on why Thuney is better than Trai. That completely misses the point and honestly who gives a damn.

I totally disagree.. 2010 had 8 pro bowl players on it..

Bradberry,  Tra are 26 and represent the most starting experience and soild parts of 2 weak areas of the team.. If we were looking for a 2 year turn around they would both be under 30 and still solid parts of a contending team...

We are Realistically now looking for leaders of the team.. We have literally no depth.. We have to build a whole new defense now.. And your 2 year optimism must consist on really hitting multiple home runs for years in the draft.. When in the 26 - 28 years history have we been able to do that... For us to compete in 2 years we have to really kill in the draft back to back  and we've never done that...

When we had quick turn around in the past (2001) or (2010) we kept pieces to build with..

We didn't trade/cut/let walk Mike Rucker, Minter or Moose Muhammad..

When Cam came in we had TD, Beason, Gross, Kali, Wharton, CJ, Smitty, DWill and Stew..

Right now we have no quality starting CB.. 1 LB 1 DT (coming off injury and past 30).. None of our Edge rushers were full time starters..

And ppl still think we need 4 new Oline starters, another wr, TE and probably a QB...

We have never been in this shitty state...This is a Browns like rebuild and we're still counting time for them to be competitive...

I believe, Rhule is looking to put in place his kind of leaders on the team.

Anybody whom isn't on 100% on board is being offered the chance the be shopped around.

Doesn't guarantee anything, but it is the right thing to do if they aren't a part of the plan/process moving forward.

    • lol well that kinda ended up working out in the end, even though I still don't have my jersey yet. Was supposed to ship by tomorrow this time, but just got another email saying it was delayed another 3 weeks and because it's been delayed so long, I had to tell them to keep the order or cancel it, but gave me a 25% off my next order as an apology. Well, my original fear came true and they are now selling the FUSE version (but still not the Blue unfortunately) before the one I ordered was ever shipped. But that's awesome, because I was able to use that coupon to order the FUSE instead and then cancelled the original order.  So I got the jersey I wanted for only $6.30 more than the crappier version costs, and it also says it will be shipped immediately and get here early next week, or 2 weeks before the other was now supposed to be shipped out.
    • I've watched this and think we are well underway.  Believe it or not, Bryce is a big part of this.  The way he bounced back with such grace.  And we've got a lot of young players who want to make their mark, Dave is giving them an opportunity.  I loved our draft.  I like the number of guys we brought in, and they will help build the culture we want under Dave.  We're getting closer, and I think we'll see more wins this year than most of the board. The right culture breeds winning, and winning builds the right culture.  Imho, it's coming.
    • As others have said it's both. One creates the other. But it also takes time sometimes years. And there have been teams lately with new car smell coaching staffs that looked like they were putting it together quickly but things came crashing back down to Earth. Sustainability is the key. For that to happen the meddling of our owners has to stop and they cannot be tempted to return to their ways over any bump in the road either.
