Hurney better draft a WR.

Since it seems like this is a slow time for news with no pro days I thought I would also throw this one out there for discussion.

If Hurney doesn’t draft a WR I will be extremely pissed with the value in this class.  Doesn’t have to be early. But for god sake take advantage of the depth in this class.

This year's class of wide receivers is phenomenal. There is excellent talent for the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and there are wideouts who will go in the second and third rounds who would go a round higher in a typical year. There will be some superb value picks on the second day of the draft and into the early-rounds of day three. There also are some third-day sleepers who will slide into the late rounds and turn out to be steals. This is a rare A class, and it would make sense for teams to draft receivers even if they don't have a need because they are getting great value for depth and competition.

I would be okay taking one late, but we had a bottom 5 defense in total rushing yards per game and rushing TDs. We better not draft one before a DT, LB, CB, S and OG. Those are true needs.

You Would only be ok taking a WR in the 7th? Lol

i would be for one in the 1st round..

I would not for 3 reasons:

1. Worst run defense in the league and second worst ever fielded by the Panthers in 25 years of existence. Literally set records for how bad it was. Now take away Luke.

2. The offensive line was ranked the bottom of the league. Shocking? No. Because while the Panthers haven’t neglected the line, their efforts have been failure. I’d almost rather fail as a result of neglect than the inept abilities the FO has shown trying to address it. I’m kind of at a loss here though because Hurney is still making the calls but I guess keep letting him swing and missing. At least he’s swinging (?).

2a. Absolutely pointless to build up threats that will be useless without an oline. Cam or a new QB needs an oline. Past 20 teams to make the super bowl the last decade had a top 10 ranked oline (most a top 5). Pretty giant stat if you ask me.

3. The secondary is most likely losing Bradberry. That means Jackson will be covering receivers like Jones. That is all.

Now I’m all for BPA in the first but to say there won’t be a DL, OL or CB that will be there worth taking above a WR despite BPA won’t be true at all.

If we don’t end up going QB at 7 I really do hope they’re seriously considering a WR.

We pissed away Cam’s career in Carolina with sh!t WR’s they better not do the same damn thing again. So if they don’t go QB at 7 it’s time to start getting weapons in place for Trevor

There’s no reason to go QB at #7

Yeah let's get a guy who catches 5 passes a game for 60 yards, while giving up 35 points a game. Your logic is incredible

You think a 7th round WR is getting us 5 catches for 60 yards? I asked a question and you made an assumption about my logic.

you don’t force draft positions based on need.

You can take one on Day 2 and probably not lose much and still get Okudah, Simmons and Brown.

Look at the middle of our OL. That’s what happens when you get a hard on for a mediocre tackle when the interior OL drafts the past two years were stacked. NO on the other hand drafted a S and C with their first two picks diving right into the BPA/depths of the draft. They got Ryan Kali and a starting S with 2 picks and we got Little, Grier and Miller with 4 picks.

If Hurney doesn’t pick a WR on Day 2, he’s still doing his same reaching and ignoring BPA. WR is that good this year.

    • A lot of young QB's struggle with holding on to the ball top long. He has gotten better progressively in that regard. Pocket Time(in Sec):  2.5(2023), 2.3(2024), 2.2(2025) Time to Throw(in Sec): 2.9(2023), 2.79(2024), 2.82(2025) The divedends have been fairly small, is the issue.
    • I'm firing DC, though I think it actually makes the job less attractive. He's not prepared to be a HC and it's showed. A new HC is not going to be tied automatically to BY. He's going to want to bring in some level of competition in the QB room because anyone who has ever watched football knows our QB room is lacking. If he doesn't, that tells a more interesting tale of who's really calling the shots.  Dave hasn't been decisive enough in game and that leadership council BS has trust fall vibes. Our offense has been pathetically stale and vanilla. Our run game while good has made no sense based on who has been playing best. Our defense is improved but they can't be expected to hold opposing teams to below 17 a game because our offense can't score consistently.  We've beaten some teams we shouldn't have beaten, specifically GB and the Rams, and I think our record doesn’t accurately reflect where the team and the coaching really is. We've fallen flat against a geriatric rookie QB leading a 2-10 NO team and got our ass handed to us TWICE. We're unprepared for the biggest games.  This is what happens though when real coaching candidates turn down interviews because your owner is a narcissistic butthole. You get someone no one else bothered to call and you get the results everyone else would have expected if they had.
    • The Saints would be 2-12 if not for us. We are 50% of their wins. A organization serious about the playoffs does not get bullied by a sh*t team like the Saints TWICE. It's over my brotha.
