A failure to trade Christian McCaffrey will cost us Trevor or Fields

We've all seen what McCaffrey can do, he can break games open, and will win even the worst team in the NFL to a couple of wins.

You don't think if CMC was on the Bengals last year they eke out 2 extra wins?  There will be a few 200 yard CMC games that we unfortunately win if we don't trade him.

On the other hand, by the time Lawrence is in his 2nd season, CMC will be an old and broken down running back on a maximum salary.

So there's no reason to hang on to CMC.  He costs us draft position this year, and won't be in his prime by the time our new QB is ready.

The only reason to keep him at this point would be to sell tickets and merch.  So this is a test of how bad Tepper wants to win versus make money.

The 2010 team had Steve Smith, Deangelo Williams, and Jonathan Stewart. CMC is 0-5 at the goal line with the game on the line in 2019, that is not necessarily true.

I sort of felt bad for KA for that reason, how can he win games when the 4 times he has the team there he doesn't get the ball but once in 4 downs.

Top 5 pick isn't good enough.

We need a top 2 pick, and probably top 1 (Fields is risky).

There is more then 1 franchise QB in next years draft thoe.. Lawrence isn't the only target.. Fields, Newman, Trey Lance are also probably coming out next year..  A top 5 pick next year secures you a QB ..

Not only are we paying a running back 64 million

We're paying him 64 million dollars to prevent us from finding a franchise quarterback in next year's draft

One of the worst moves in franchise history

If you liked this extension, enjoy watching your perpetually 5-11 or 6-10 Panthers for the next half decade.

We’re not trading CMC because maybe we’re not trying to tank for Trevor or Fields. Maybe we are trying to win with CMC and the best QB in this year’s draft “Tua Tagovailoa”.

I don’t think we go offense in the first. I think it will be Simmons IMO. But based off of players and others comments, we are trying to win now.

I know that Rodrigue has come out and say it herself that Rhule will go heavily on defense. End of the day, she doesn’t know much more than we do. She gets paid to ask questions and report on it. She doesn’t get paid to be inside the war room. If a qb like Tua is there at 7, I’ll bet my money that Rhule takes him over anyone else. I’m sure Rhule and co. have done their jobs and are still doing more for all possibilities. Even, trading up for Burrow, Tua or Chase. I think that we have done more to fix the defensive side of the ball compare to the offense during this offseason.

Yea, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Teddy and the offense will be involved in a couple offensive shootouts to begin the year (with us on the losing end), and by week 9 or 10 the team will have damn near given up with us finishing the year on another long losing streak.

This defense will be bad.

    • It was a team loss, because it's a team game.  I even admitted so in the above post.  That does not deflect or shield a player or players for their role in that loss. Horn's penalty and Hubbard's fumble were super costly.   What was your intent on starting this thread with an All-22 pass play?  Did you honestly think there would be no controversy around Bryce?  Then go on to say if anyone disagrees they are 100% anti-Bryce.  Really?  I've stated over and over again my position on Bryce.  At this point, he's not the pre-benching '24 Bryce, that guy is largely gone.  However, his ceiling is game manager level for like 80% of his outings, that being middling...10% really good and 10% awful.  That's not my idea of a franchise QB.  The notion that we just have to maximize everything around him to nudge him above game manager level is not only unrealistic, but one sided...literally.  The defense has taken a back seat as a priority on this team, yet we complain about it.  How many die hard NFL fans can name anyone on our defense outside of Brown and Horn?  Heck most fair weather Panthers fan couldn't either.
    • People have genuinely ignored the fact that Horn is having a very underwhelming season overall. The INT's are way up but a lot of the other metrics have not been very kind. He has had a disappointing year overall by his standards.
    • their pass defense is good but not that good.  they are giving up on average 198 yards passing per gamd which is higher than byoungs average per game.  their pass defense is basically the same as the panthers pass d
