Tepper lost all credibility when retaining Hurney as GM

Yup bringing back Hurney made no damn no sense at all. This franchise makes us all mad every single damn time

Many here were praising Hurney the moment he walked back into our lives.

I STILL don't know what all you guys were thinking.

The moment JR got into hot water, we knew a very different team was just a matter of time.

The moment Cam Newton needed a backup to throw up a Hail Mary, a new quarterback was just a matter of time.

The moment RR was fired....do I need to keep going?

When Tepper kept Marty on, as well as Ron, I started to get very nervous that we weren't dealing with someone who knew much about what they were doing, or who really really followed football closely.

Deciding to keep Marty after Ron was let go was when I completely lost all faith in Tepper.

There have been more gaffes, but those two mistakes, especially the 2nd one, really make me nervous about the next 5 years for the team.

Wondering where all the "Tepper is a billionaire, I trust him over you" types that were around here only a couple months ago?

I trust Tepper to know what he wants and that he has a better idea of the plan. Since I don't know the plan and won't know how it plays out,, I am waiting to see all of that before passing judgement rather than jumping in March and deciding everything with no knowledge or concrete results.

When Tepper kept Ron you had this stance.  When Tepper kept Marty you had this stance.

I said when Marty was brought in that he would trash the franchise once again, that has been proven right.  We are now adrift with no direction, that's a Marty Special...it's what he does.

So you keep telling people to remain calm, to not get upset, and to see how the plan unfolds, and I'll just tell people to keep looking at the scoreboard, and to use their brains for even a moment.

The leadership and direction of this team have not been good under Tepper.

Can't say it enough - this fan base has lost all trust in this regime the moment they failed to hire a new GM and demote / fire Hurney.  The fact that he's in charge of "rebuilding" or "retooling" the team is absurd.  As a GM, he has never consistently put together a winning roster.  Somehow he's weaseled his way into good graces of Tepper.  We should start a Fan PETITION  to fire Hurney immediately.  Who's with me?

Glad they appointed you to speak for the entire fan base.

Hurney is playing the black hat right now, he's been retained to be the hatchet man. There are a lot of hogs to kill in the yard and Tepper handed him the knife. There's going to be a year of dead money on the books and we're moving out the culture that became too cool for school. Players are probably being retained greatly based on their coachability and cost effectiveness.

Hurney, at the moment, is doing what a manager is supposed to do: execute the will of the owners of the business, and in this case, begin shaping the team the new coach wants to establish.

The next few weeks are going to be more Steve Smith than Cam Newton, if you know what I mean -- put your goggles on.

And remember, the "fan base" demanded this. Oh and just as some favorites will go under the guillotine, some (like Hurney) won't. Get used to it.

The frustration (at least mine) doesn't lie with what is happening now, currently there are some smart moves are being made, outside of signing Teddy....

The frustration is with us, once again, looking like one of the very worst teams in the league, and the man who is in charge that allowed us to get this bad.

I dont mind the changes. I mind who is in charge of it. Hurney has no track record of sustained success as a GM. He has never had a vision for team building, is terrible at managing the cap and contracts, and uses every draft because we are only 1or 2 picks away from it all.

Here we are again, being led by a guy that didn't get a job offer after being fired  because he was so terrible last time around. This is the poo really bad horror movies, like Tara Reid and Paris Hilton are the stars, bad horror movies that your girl is making you watch because it looked good at Redbox. You want to turn it off but you can't, or else its gonna be a lonely night.

    • Here’s a summary of the JJ and Luke podcast transcript. Opening / Bryce Young Fifth-Year Option     •    JJ: Breaking news — Panthers picked up Bryce Young’s fifth-year option at $25.9M, guaranteed, coming in 2027. Combined with his 2025 salary of ~$6M, that’s $31M over two years — called it a “no-brainer.”     •    Luke: Enthusiastic about the move. Highlighted Bryce’s improving TD/INT ratios (11/10 → 15/9 → 23/11) and the value of entering year three with Dave Canales. Noted $25M is a bargain relative to the $60M top of market. Luke’s Personal Update — Charlotte Christian Football     •    Luke: Working with Charlotte Christian school football program, which hired a new head coach. Coaches include Greg Olsen, Luke, and Greg’s dad Chris Olsen (a New Jersey State coaching Hall of Famer).     •    JJ: Jokingly quipped that Charlotte Christian’s coaching staff is “the world’s greatest” — a Fox analyst, a Hall of Famer, and the best Panthers RB ever — all coaching middle school football.     •    Luke: Praised Chris Olsen’s deep football knowledge spanning decades and his ability to connect with kids. Round 1, Pick 19 — Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia     •    JJ: Panthers were on the clock and submitted their pick almost immediately — a sign of confidence and preparation. Freeling is 6’7”, 320 lbs, played in the SEC in a pro-style system.     •    Luke: Loved the pick. Emphasized you can never have too many quality offensive linemen. Noted Freeling’s size, athleticism, and arm length as key traits. Said the pick also reflects team’s philosophy of drafting great people, not just great players.     •    JJ: Noted reporter Darren Gantt compared Freeling favorably to Jordan Gross — bigger, heavier, and faster — as a potential franchise left tackle.     •    Luke: Pointed out that young players like Freeling still have physical development ahead of them, comparing the trajectory to Christian McCaffrey’s growth from age 20 onward. Round 2, Pick 49 — Lee Hunter, DT, Texas Tech     •    JJ: Panthers traded up from 51 to 49 (pick swap with Minnesota) to grab Hunter. Played audio from Panthers area scout Kaden McLuhan, who scouted Hunter.     •    Scout Kaden McLuhan (audio): Said Hunter’s size is immediately striking, and that everyone around him spoke glowingly about his character, energy, and love for the game.     •    Luke: Praised Hunter as a massive (6’3”, 320 lbs, ~34” arms) two-gap nose tackle who fits perfectly in the Evero defense. Compared his prospect profile to Akiem Hicks. Said having Derek Brown, Bobby Brown, Derrick Brown, Terson Wharton, and now Hunter creates varied body types that stress offensive linemen.     •    JJ: Noted Hunter ranked third among all prospects in run-stuff rate and sixth in interior pass-rush win rate — addressing a perception that he couldn’t rush the passer. Rounds 3–7 Highlights     •    Luke: Highlighted WR Brazle (3rd round, 6’4”, 437 speed, 1,000+ yards at Tennessee) as the vertical threat the offense needed. Also praised OL Sam Heck (5th round) as a technically sound player whose “short arms” caused him to fall but who has proven himself.     •    Luke: Mentioned CB Will Lee (6’1”, 33” arms) fits the Panthers’ DB prototype — big, long corners.     •    Luke: Praised S/LB hybrid Zaki Wheatley (5th round, 6’3”) as a big nickel similar to Trayvon Merek.     •    Luke: Excited about the linebacker competition between Devin Lloyd, Trevvin Wallace, and Claudin Cherless.     •    JJ: Noted Panthers had the #1 “steal/overreach” rating in the entire draft — drafting players lower than consensus big boards projected. Around the League     •    Luke: Admitted being “a little jealous” that the Miami Dolphins drafted LB Jacob Rodriguez (Luke’s favorite LB in the draft). Has personal connections to Miami’s coaching staff (Jeff Hafley, DC Shawn Dugen — a childhood teammate).     •    Luke: Also noted Miami’s selection of OT/G Kaden Proctor out of Alabama, who will likely move to guard. League Trends — Bigger Tight Ends / 12 & 13 Personnel     •    JJ: Observed the NFL saw its highest run rate in ~11 years (~52%) and a notable pivot toward big blocking tight ends in this draft.     •    Luke: Explained the cyclical nature of NFL offense/defense evolution — as defenses get smaller to match spread offenses, teams counter with bigger personnel (12/13 formations), which then forces defenses to get bigger at the nickel/“big nickel” spot. Called it an ongoing arms race.
    • Dan Vladar is their best player and that is going to be the difference in the series
    • Nothing about the Flyers scare me. They are a mid team that just barely made the playoffs.
