Middle or late round draft prospects you like...

WOW!!

As long as we have a healthy CMC, drafting RBs is pretty much a waste...especially for depth.  The premium for having 2-3 starting caliber RBs in the stable is archaic in today's NFL.  You can easily sign a #2 RB in FA for cheap and forego the learning curve.

Who knows? A lot of his draft status will probably come down to the medical evaluation.

He was Gil Brandt's #3 CB in the country going into this season.

I really like the mid round CBs--of course, I want Okudah--but you build the d from the inside out, front to back.  There are several I like in round 2 and later:

Gladney (TCU)

Noah cldkkedppch (sp?)  (Auburn)

Hall (Va)

Johnson (Utah)

Arnette (OhioSt)

Dantzler (Miss St)

Sleeper: Vildor (Ga So)  I actually want this player

I'm also thinking of double dipping at DT... if we  draft Brown I'd still grab a another DT in the 4th or 5th rounds.. IF we don't draft Brown I'd grab one in the 3rd then double it either in the 4th or 5th round... And I still got my eyes on James Lynch in the 6th round...

If we don't get Okudah in the 1st .. I'd probably double tap CB as well..  1 in the 2nd and 5th or 6th round...

Dugger is the only safety I'd go for in the 3rd round .. The rest are in the 4th or 5th round...

I love Wille Gay jr. In the 3rd if we don't get Simmons.. But wouldn't get any other LB until the 5th or 6th round.. Quatterman maybe..

Someone is going to have to jump the gun on us for us not to draft James Lynch. I think Rhule will be pounding the table for him as early as #38. I think he's a 4th rounder at best. Rhule will probably have to learn the hard way that some very good college players just don't have the prerequisite talent level to make the transition to the next level.

I can see him being a 3rd round trade up.  We may overpay but he could be a good pro.  Some coaches will go get their guys.  There are two in particular in this draft Rhule is quite fond of: Lynch at DE/DT and Hennessy at C.

I really like Jordan Elliott at DT out of Missouri, Isaiah Hodgins out of Oregon State.

My favorite mid round target that could go as high as our 3rd rounder would be Reggie Robinson at CB.  The independent draft sites will show him down on their big boards but he is fast rising in the scouting community.

Also, Justin Strnad out of Wake at LB could be excellent if we don't land Simmons round 1.

Hopefully somebody in that draft will stop him from outbidding himself... Lynch is still being rated down the line no earlier then the 5th and as late as the 7th round... To grab him in the 3rd would be stupid.. He isn't a game changer in my opinion and needs development time to be more then a rotation guy DT...

I think he's probably one of those high effort try hard guys that coaches love, I just question his ability to translate to the NFL. He's undersized to play DT in the NFL and his measurables were pedestrian at best. I give him a decent chance to stick in the NFL, I just don't think he warrants a pick any higher than the 4th at best and I think even that would be a bit of a reach.

I agree and I hope somebody in that draft room can clam Rhule love for players he coached down.. And stop him from drafting those players sooner then he needs to...

    • The bad thing is that Xavier Legette kind of ignored the Jugs machine his rookie season. The good thing is that he's committed to it now. Catching is important to an NFL receiver (sarcasm), but, perhaps just as important is a receiver's---any player's---mindset.  "This offseason, the young wideout has gotten back to something in terms of preparation (Jugs machine). 'Oh man, it’s always been something I’ve done, and I don’t know why, but I felt like I could take a little breath,' explained Legette (via Darin Gantt of Panthers.com). 'And when you’re playing in this game, you can never do that. It’s always a way to get better, and that’s one of the ways to help with catching. For sure, for sure. In my mind, I’m thinking about ways, things I can do. What can I do to have less drops this coming season in Year 2? 'The whole mindset has changed, man,' added Legette. 'Trying to do anything I got to. I’m sacrificing a lot of things that I used to do outside of the building to put my work inside the building.'" https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/xavier-legette-focused-on-reducing-drops-that-plagued-rookie-year-with-panthers-01k1692c0tz9 So, yeah, it wasn't good coming in taking some things for granted, but Legette is young. His mentality appears to have changed and he appears to be maturing and he's been putting in a lot of work by all accounts.  I know some of you are down on him, but I still have faith. Last season was a disjointed mess in its entirety, but there were still some flashes, particularly with route running. With Legette's seemingly better fit as the WR2, mindset and focus---doing his actual job catching the ball---he should be able to improve. Lastly, I'd like to add, props to Legette for being so open about the need to improve and change his mindset. Some guys wouldn't necessarily admit that publicly. If nothing else, he's honest and down-to-earth.
    • It is worth noting the fanbase has long held a love hate relationship with PFF over the years. Now that we are employing some of their people and actively using their data in our roster building approach going forward this should serve as the end all be all to any debate. This is either going to end really well or really bad. It's the Panthers. So save your energy and give it some time.
    • And to be honest, we weren't really talking about PFF grades either. I brought it into the conversation via a pic that's LLM-related (which apparently some Huddlers took issue with) as an aside for providing more specificity than just sheer numbers
