Round pegs and square holes

We're moving back to a base 4-3 look on defense.  We've divested ourselves of some of the personnel brought in to field 3-4 schemes.  What will become of Miller and Burns who were specifically drafted for the 3-4?  How will the current defensive coaching staff put these guys in a position to be successful and productive?  Should we be looking for trade partners instead of relegating these guys to special packages?   We've invested precious draft capital in these picks.  We need to find a place at the table for them, or try to recoup our investment.

Burns has the frame to pack on some more weight and play DE in a 4-3.

Not sure if guys like Miller and/or Haynes will have a spot or not. They might be fighting for one designated pass rusher type role.

I think Miller is fast enough and has the lateral movement to be a strong side LB.  Or play the Elephant role in a Seattle type 4-3 defense..

I agree on Hayes. He might be odd man out if he can't atleast gain some power...

I don't understand what ppl don't see in Burns.. He literally play DE all threw college and is 10 to 15 pounds away from being the avg. Weight of a DE in the pro's.. Not to mention Jason Taylor played a whole career at 244lb against better OT..

I think they'll do even better as DEs. The Edge position is still evolving, particularly in the nickel which seems to be the default line up once you are halfway into the first quarter of the game.

Let's see how they scheme it, because that's what it comes down to more than anything, rather than just looking at pegs and holes. Football is the fastest moving game of chess on Earth and sometimes people just break the old rules and start moving pieces around in completely new ways.

    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
    • Nah we just talking about giving a platform and normalizing predators (who both beat women) opinions and celebrating it if it fits your narrative.  If that's fun I'm fine being a miserable fug by not supporting P.O.S like that. N b4 you call me a libtard or some other dumb ish know I'm an Anarchist/Libertarian and believe both these dudes should get a complete ass whooping (at min) or something worse for what they have done to women in this world.
