Mock Draft

Brown, even if Simmons is still available. If we don't shore up the middle of the defensive line, we're screwed. Won't matter if we can get after the passer, or shut down the receivers. Won't even matter if we score a butt ton of points.

I'd rather see us pick something else, but when you run the numbers, DT is the most important pick for us and Brown is head and shoulders the best one out there. I'm not saying he'll be Aaron Donald or even DonkeyKong Suh, but if he is at least early years Kris Jenkins, we're going to be much better off.

I spent a few minuted scouring the interwebs, and came to a conclusion, most of the mock drafts have us taking:

Derrick Brown- Edge

Isiah Simmons- LB

Jeff Okudah- CB

Which one would you guys think we need the most?

Derrick Brown is considered "edge"?

Out of those 3

Brown, Okudah, Simmons

DL needs help in a bad way.

CB, while Okudah is a Elite prospect.  The depth of this CB class makes me want to hold off on CB until after rd 1 while still taking a Elite prospect at a need in a thinner crop.

Simmons is a monster and a combine warrior.  But imo, with a multiple 4-3 and having Whitehead and Shaq.  That group is much better off than most position groups we have currently sadly enough.

Trade back but stay in the top 10-12 .  Get some extra picks that might be used to trade back up for a player of need or stay pat with the extra picks .  We have multiple needs so with the extra picks we could double dip say on DL or CB .

I don't know if this information will help, but we have 2 centers, 2 guards, 3 DT, and 4 CB. That should at least give you an idea how this draft will go. Having pick #7 is actually really good because it gives us the option of trading down or drafting BPA.

    • Agreed.  Unless a DE is a Julius Peppers type, it takes a couple of years to really develope.  I am hoping we can get one to go with Prince and Scourton.  Or another Interior Dlineman might work as well.
    • Great work Dan. This is the first time in a long time heading into day 1 of the draft that I don’t care which way we go.
    • I don't think it's about Bryce's ego. I think it's about Tepper's. Bryce was Tepper's draft pick. Everything that's been done has been to protect the image.  New HC with a shiny contract fired after he loses interest immediately after he supposedly drafted his guy. He can't make an offense for him because he's the QB that fits his style of offense. Bryce's rookie season is one of the worst in history. It was obvious he wasn't ready. He was named starter without any real camp competition. No real preseason reps. Coach keeps playing him despite terrible play.  A new coach and GM are hired on the condition that Bryce is the guy. No searching for a new QB. It's Bryce or else.  Bryce is benched year 2 for multiple games, replaced by Dalton who stunk it up proving he's washed up, then Bryce comes back in after Dalton injures his thumb and finishes the season. Dalton's contract is up, plenty of younger, higher upside FAs available. Dalton is brought back 2 years guaranteed as a "mentor". Jack Plummer, so bad in 24', brought back to camp in 25' and lo and behold, he's still terrible and has no business being on a field.  Other QBs brought in, the most recognizable being Hooker. All those brought in so bad even the PS can't hold them.  And now, after 3 years of bottom tier QB performance, with Dan saying we need to improve our QB room, we bring in a QB that's not passed for over 2500 yards in either of his 2 seasons as a starter, before he's benched and sent to the life of being a backup.  The common denominator in all of this is there's never been any real competition here, even when it was justified. After last year, it's debatable if he's starting QB material. Good moments and horrific moments. From one minute to the next, you don't know what you're gonna get.  So if you ask yourself why some of us feel bringing in KP is a joke, it's because it looks how it's always looked. That everything being done is to prove that David Tepper was right when he made the choice to draft Bryce and everything done since has been to protect that decision. Bringing in another QB with even the potential to challenge Bryce was always out of the question.
