Panther fans likely don't need more disappointment...

I'm guessing he'll never reveal the real reason behind his retirement but the resounding thought is his health with Concussions, correct?  Because that guy didn't 'lose a step' last year like he says in his speech.

Actually, he did reveal the reason in the video announcing his retirement. And while he didn't specifically mention concussions, he did indicate that it was  health related.

I think his exact quote was something along the lines of his body not being able to do it anymore.

Luke could be alright in broadcasting.  Just because he seemed dry while playing doesn't mean he won't be a little more jovial when not involved in the action.  He just has to be able to switch gears from a player to a fan of the game.  I know I'd enjoy his breakdown of plays and his insight into what teams are trying to accomplish.

Luke could be as successful as Romo in the booth. IMO if Romo didn't have Nantz as a partner from the beginning he would be far from successful. Nantz drew him out, asking questions, and gave him space to talk. In Romo's first couple of games he was dry and uncomfortable. Luke with the right partner would be just as good. And who says Luke doesn't have personality, especially a good sense of humor? Ah, the good ole days.

Greg is stupid. But don’t blame him on trying to win a ring.

I think it's more about his HOF case. A deep playoff run with a couple of highlight catches in a new uniform might be the missing piece.

Great players rarely make great coaches. But I just don't see Luke's dry personality translating well to the microphone. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.

Yeah, he seems to be very "wooden" in his official interactions. I don't think we will see him be successful on TV. He might be a lot more personable in private but his public demeanor doesn't seem terribly charismatic.

They will not cut him

Oh I have no doubt. This is about his true designation and how his cap hit can be spread out. I do not know that he has technically been designated as retired, so we will found out that designation by June 1st because we can spread his salary over more than one year.

With the Hawks??? He has just as much of a chance than we do next year.

Russell and Carroll are always proving people wrong. They have the best MLB in the league now that Kuechly retired. SF may hit a slump after losing the SB. The Cardinals could surprise some people. The Rams are going to be terrible this season.

Don't see the disappointment. I wish him well at whatever he does. For me, it would be right selfish to wish otherwise.

No argument that we should all wish him the best, but around the time of his retirement there were probably a hundred or more posts from people hoping he'd join the coaching staff. Several ultimately concluded that he might still do it after a year or so off.

If he doesn't, that's where the disappointment comes in.
