Charles Johnson was pretty damn good from 2010- 2013, but he was nowhere near peak Peppers in my book.  That's comparing a Hall of Honor guy to a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. 

And Hardy honestly had more athletic ability than CJ.  Johnson was still a force in his prime, and he could stop the run in addition to rushing the passer.  IIRC, he still owns the bench press record for a DE in team history.  He had some speed, but CJ won more with brute strength than anything.  He's probably the most powerful DE in team history (you could certainly make the argument Reggie White would trump anyone in his prime but he was on his last legs when he played for Carolina).

Our best rushing combos in team history were Greene-Lathon- Fox in the mid 1990's, Peppers-Ruckers-Wallace in the early 2000's and then Johnson-Hardy-Addison in the early 2010's.

Hopefully, we can have something similar in the 2020's with the group we are assembling now.  I'm not going to name names b/c I don't won't to jinx it.

Regardless, anybody with a brain knows we're at least a year away from being a playoff team.  I just want to see growth this year and not screw up our chance at getting our next franchise guy next draft.

Hardy didn't get beefy till training camp in his third year. He gained like 25 lbs of muscle in one offseason.
