Unfortunately for the Saints, you cant improve someone's IQ. If he is the starter after Brees, itll be a good thing for us and everyone else in the NFCS.

27 on the Wonderlic, more than double Tua.

The problem with Jameis is lack of the proper work ethic required to excel in the NFL.  He's smart enough, but not motivated enough.

Agreed. Wishing him all the best. I just hope he doesn't get into anymore shenanigan's.

Yea, his judgement on and off the field has been downright horrible for some time now. He has the tools, he just has to get out of his own way.

If he is playing for the Saints, I definitely don't wish him the best.   And fwiw, I am glad the Panthers didn't sign him.  Five seasons, two different coaches, and still looked bad last year with a solid group of receivers.   Historically speaking, the number of QB's who turned around their careers after this bad of a start can probably be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Cam to the Pats is picking up steam on the twitters. It’s not confirmed but it’s being discussed...a lot. Vegas odd were at +400 yesterday now they are -170 for cam to the pats.

Cam continues to post tons of workout (and other) videos on his instagram page -- has def bulked up and is clearly not limited in any way.

Actually makes a reference to veganism in this video:

Still believe he's doing himself no favors by continuously posting these videos.

You mean Carson Palmer? Let’s remember who Carson Palmer is now. Former #1 overall pick and a Heisman winner. Was traded to Hue Jackson and the Raiders for a 1st and 2nd. Then traded to Arizona for a late pick because the Raiders suck. Arians isnt going to make Tom Brady this upcoming season if there is one. He couldn’t do anything with Jameis Winston who has all the talents in the world; a Heisman winner, National Champion and #1 overall pick. The guy who completed 25 of 27 passes in his first game at FSU and we all were wondering when he was going to throw the first incompletion. Tom Brady will make Bruce Arians look like he’s again, another top HC in the league.

Yeah Palmer not Warner that was Dennis Green. Also 45 year old Tom Brady is better than 25 year old Winston.

Winston is currently averaging 1 INT every 29 attempts.

Before getting to New Orleans, Brees averaged 1 INT every 34.1 attempts.

Before Arians went to Tampa last year, Winston was averaging 1 INT every 33.1 attempts.

Even if Payton can shave off just 1/3 of those INT’s, Winston on this team can be lethal and is more than a viable emergency QB should Brees go down again.

Being tutored behind Brees for a season before he retired is the smartest thing he has ever done . Guy is what, 26 years old? Lots of career left.

Indeed. Smartest thing he’s done by far. He will learn something coming in that QB room everyday.

He just had one of the best in the league in Arians.

Thankfully Payton is a better coach than Arians.

This is why I like the move...  for us.  If Arians couldn't fix him, I think the odds are much higher of him screwing up there than figuring "it" out.

His issues dont seem coachable.

His issues are coachable, Arians just isn’t the right coach to correct them. Arians’ coaching philosophy is “no risk it, no biscuit” and essentially encouraged Winston, who’s decision making was somewhat questionable already, to go out there and make risky throws.

Lets look at Arians’ NFL coaching stops in his first year:

    • 1998 Colts (QB coach) - Manning throws 28 INT’s, career high

    • 2001 Browns (OC) - Couch throws 21 INT’s, career high and up +12 from 2000

    • 2007 Steelers (OC) - Roethlisberger throws 11 INT’s, down -12 from 2006

    • 2012 Colts (OC/IHC) - Luck throws 18 INT’s, career high

    • 2013 Cardinals (HC) - Palmer throws 22 INT’s, career high and up +8 from 2012

    • 2019 Buccaneers (HC) - Winston throws 30 INT’s, career high and up +16 from 2018

So in 6 stops working directly with the QB, Arians’ QBs threw their career high number of INT’s in 5 of them during their first year in his system. I doubt that’s a coincidence.

Smartest move he could've made.  Take a year and a few million to hold a clipboard with the Bridgewater route, then let a QB needy team talk themselves into you and give you 20 million+ next year.

Not to mention the impending Brees retirement. Impress Payton and you might fall ass backwards into one of the best rosters in the league.

Bingo

Jameis can play lights out and look like Brett Favre one second and then completely look worst than Will Grier’s worst the next.

Jameis is like 26 or 27 and has a lot of football left. No promises except he gets to learn and watch and who knows.

I wouldnt go that far.
