Perspective on Will Grier

Have we deemed him a failure already? Do you feel he was one of the worst reaches since Jimmy Clausen? The saddest part about it was he wasn’t highly regarded in the draft unanimously but there were some that raved bout him as a later round steal. I do not feel he’s a complete waste yet but I wonder how much will we see from him before his rookie contract is up.

Based on the highlights and eval vids out there on him at WVU, I think he could be a low-level to decent starter. Kind of in a Jake Delhomme/Derek Anderson kind of way.

He was a solid "prospect" but should not have seen the field during the regular season. I think with the right tutelage and a cushion of expectation to become a QB (3 more years maybe), I think he could be serviceable.

Never will understand when rookies look like rookies and get badmouthed for it.

Eh, not Pickles level. He wasn’t drafted to be a starter. He could still be a decent backup.

If you look at Clausen's first two starts, and compare them to Grier's first two starts, they are pretty similar.  Clausen might even be a little better.

When you draft a QB with the 100th pick you're not exactly thinking he's going to be a starter. Pickles was the 48th pick in the draft, so that hurt a lot more. Going into the draft I couldn't understand why rumors were flying that Hurney was in love with Grier, but I didn't understand the Pickles love either. I can't stand later round long shot QBs being drafted by the Panthers. I that so much.

To be honest I was in shock by how mediocre Grier looked last season. He was much worse than I expected, and I already had low expectations. Grier basically lacks the talent to make the tough throws, has a noodle arm, and relies on check down passes as much as Pickles. Noodle arm Grier will not receive a second contract here.

No more wing and a prayer poop QBs. No more. Our sights should be set on the best QB prospects at the top of the draft. I don't want the Saints 3rd best QB. I don't want a piece poop Hurney found in the 3rd round. We need a superstar QB. Otherwise I have no hope of the Panthers winning the SB. Just not happening.

Let's all sit nervously and wring our hands hoping our long shot QB pans out. Welcome to being a Panthers fan. Mahomes is chucking bombs and dominating, meanwhile we have check down Teddy. Look out NFL. Here come the Panthers. I just hope we have a shot at Lawrence.

    • Why don't we just say they can shove the late round draft picks up their ass? If they want a player they will be starting at WR in Week 1, I want a MLB in return that we can start Week 1. Starter for a Starter Not Starter for a draft pick we'll be debating whether or not they should make the final 53 man roster in 2026.
    • Why?   No. This isn't a situation of a player we want to trade because we have no use for them.  He's our starting slot WR, our leader of the young WR room, Bryce's safety option the last 2 years who he has good chemistry with. If the Vikings didn't run into WR trouble, we'd never have been even considering trading him, so why in the world should we give him up for fair market value in a vacuum for Thielen and disregard what losing him off our roster will do for us this year? A 5th round pick in 2026 is a negligible draft pick, especially with this season being so make or break for Bryce and Canales.
    • The Vikings acquiring all these late round picks has me feeling like we're about to see another CMC situation play out here. Trade a player we really like for the equivalent of what we want for them on the draft pick chart, but because of a bunch of late round picks instead of the one pick value we actually want. Which will do the same thing in the end, nothing, because 6th and 7th round picks rarely work out to begin with, or we're just going to use them to move up 10 picks in the 3rd or 4th round to take another DJ Johnson
