Carolina Panthers' Blues! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

top dawg

I have a good amount of Panthers gear, and I'm just a little annoyed that it seems like the team has sanctioned more than one shade of blue. I mean, I realize that not all materials or dye batches are identical, but, come on...The Panthers need to make up their minds (and I say this as I just ordered a glacier blue cap...:).

What is our official shade of blue? I know it's not the newest Glacier Blue that I've seen on some items lately. I looked it up years ago, because some people were telling me turquoise, and it seems like New Era is the biggest offender with these teal---Jags-colored Panthers hats, but I got it down to Electric Blue (a.k.a. Panthers Blue). So I'm like, "Electric Blue, it is!" Now, I've seen some say our official color is Process Blue. What in the world? Nike, New Era, etc. and all the officially licensed NFL gear providers need to get it together!

Mr. David Tepper, if you happen to see this, let's get everyone singing the blues on one accord!

Panthers blue has always been Process Blue. That's the name of the ink from Pantone. "Electric Blue" is just what the team calls it.

There's different color codes for embroidery, shirts, plastic, etc. There's a number of reasons why you're seeing variations, probably companies just ignoring those codes and/or using cheaper materials that are close in color but not exact.

I dont know why but for some reason most companies cannot seem to get the color right.

Yes, this is an issue that you can see throughout the stadium as well, so it's not just a manufacturing issue.  I've seen different blues printed from the Official Team handouts, to different color shirts and hats in the official team store.  I have a favorite shade of blue that I see them use, but you're right it'd be better to have one official color.

I remember the Bobcats changing their blue as they said it was tough to reproduce consistently.

The blue jerseys alternate jerseys seem to be a different shade of blue each year. I also think the color rush blue jerseys with blue pants are a different shade then the normal blue alternate. incredibly inconsistent.

    • I still think a Dalton thumb injury screwed us 2 seasons in a row.  It allowed the Bryce Young comeback after whoever finally gave a greenlight on being done w/ him 2 weeks into the season.  and I think we saw a soft benching this year and they wanted to see Andy run it with this crew.  But Andy hurting his thumb killed us from seeing whatever he has at full go in a game.  Bryce Young was never hurt those 2 games to the degree which called him to miss a game IMO.  You don't see QBs sit for such minor things....unless you just want to use it to explore and see.
    • I was quite critical of Ron Rivera's game day coaching decisions and management over his years here. Especially when he coached super conservative playing not to lose. But at the end of the day he never had to try and win with a Bryce Young. John Fox had to try and win with a Bryce Young and he completely checked out and got himself fired. The only. Only solution right now. Is to remove the anchor around our necks from the equation and move forward however we can and assess all the moving parts with the time we have left so we can move forward accordingly in the offseason. Not doing so is only going to further delay evaluating what we have in this young roster and this staff led by Canales.
    • Sometimes GMs try outsmart everyone by picking a player they think has the physical tools and can be coached up but Legette is an example what happens when that doesn't work out. Teams that are already contenders with a full roster can take those chances. The Eagles, for example, could have rolled the dice on a guy like Legette. But the Panthers needed, and still need, to draft guys who are ready to play now in the first round. Legette wasn't that guy and there were much better options available.
