My feelings exactly... and I want Teddy to succeed.

It hurt me to move on from Delhomme, and I knew he was washed up.

It's hard to believe in a football world where a healthy Cam wasn't worth keeping.  And beyond that, Cam as a presence will take years to replace.  If ever.

And as good a player as CMC is, he ain't that guy.  Neither was Peppers, and he's a 1st ballot HOF.  Or Kuechly.  Or anyone else.

The only guy that came close was Smitty, and he wasn't a QB.

Truth is, every time I think I'm over Cam, I see something like this and realize I'm not.  It sucks

You don't want exciting from a QB.  You want consistency.

Yeah, consistent "average Joe" just doesn't get it done in today's NFL. Back in the 80s and 90s? Sure. You could win Super Bowls with average consistent QBs backed with a solid running game and protected by a stout D. The NFL wants high flying big scoring offenses though because that's what excites the casual viewer and they've kept changes the rules and will keep changing the rules to get it. Adapt or die. If you don't have a QB capable of putting up 30+ TDs you don't have a shot. The Chiefs didn't give Mahomes half a billion because of consistency. They gave him that because he's a guy who can turn a two score 4th quarter deficit into a two score Super Bowl win.

Yeah I hope for his sake (and the team's) that he kills it and becomes a great QB.  But there is literally nothing less exciting to me than that picture.  I feel like we have a Nick Foles or Ryan Tannehill at QB.  Aka, he could work (for a few weeks), and only if the team around him does the heaviest of lifting.

Yeah, with CMC I feel like Teddy's ceiling could potentially be Tannehill level. Unfortunately, our D is a far cry from the Titans'. Meanwhile, Tannehill has thrown for 17+ TDs in every season since his rookie season including 4 20+ TD seasons. Teddy's career best is 14. That's the reality. Teddy having a run of the mill season for Tannehill would require his career best. Miami may have ended up moving on from Tannehill, but in all honesty he's been an absolute stud compared to Teddy.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
